What are you suggesting:

Allow town renames. AKA The bimonthly suggestion for town renames.​

Why is this a good addition for EcoCityCraft?:

TL;DR: Issues with town renames are overcome as part of town moves anyway, updates in policy have can potentially allow for town renames to occur, and an immediate post reset "lack" of town can fix any hidden underlying issues.

I have pondered town renames for much time now, and to me at least, cannot see any obvious issues with town renames that aren't already present primarily with town moves.

Town plots are already required to be removed prior to a town move. This would be a requirement that would have to be carried over for a potential town rename.

Town features would act in a similar manner to how they work on town moves. As per the wiki:

In my opinion, a town rename would be easier to handle to a town move, as common features such as warps would simply be a delete old warp reset new warp in the same location. Infact, some features, such as town portals, would be completely unaffected, as they do not link in to town names.

The papertrail would also be able to be maintained on forums. Original town application can edited to have the new name. Contracts require a link to original town application, so even "errors" in the name of town due to a rename would be implied anyway with the linking. Town feature apps such as warps should be updated to new information (i.e. new coordinates) in town moves, and so should be easily able to be updated to a new town name, (so work for GA+ shouldn't be too much more than in the case for town moves)

So unless I'm missing some super secret list of town names that only SA+ can access, town renames are more than possible. And if this is the case, now that there is a post reset and there are fewer towns around at the moment, any potential back end system can be more easily changed now.​

This is by far not the first time this has been suggested. Infact, it has been suggested numerous times in the past 10 years. I have compiled a list of most of these suggestions. From these, the suggestion is usually loosly suggested, and then denied with a generic "its too much work". However, as a wise man once said, "anything is possible, If I say something isn't possible, call me out on it." This is by far a popular suggestion, and I think an actual discussion / look into the logistics of town renames in 2021 is desired, as it seems that the descision to not allow town renames was made in and around 2014.
