Minecraft Name: webman11123 Suggestion: Ability to change town names Reason: I've seen lots of towns around my town in Legacy that've been abandoned for a pretty long time, and some of them have some weird names. For anyone looking to claim over an existing town, I'd think it would be great if you could apply on the forums for a town rename. Of course, you wouldn't be able to change your claim to an existing town's name, or you couldn't apply for a change until a certain time has passed... A couple months, a year, or maybe you'd get one town name change per user. I've always wished that you'd be able to change claimed town's names, and I bet a good number of players have as well. And from a technical standpoint, why wouldn't you be able to have town name changes? I've always wondered that as well. Feel free to leave your opinion on this thread, I'd appreciate it.
http://ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/ability-to-rename-claimed-towns.128448/ Everything to do with a town uses its name, contracts, portals, PvP arenas, warps, etc. Finding and remaking all the features would be a bit of a hassle (like what if you didn't know there was a hidden PvP arena under the town?) All of that hassle multiplies if town names can be changed multiple times.
It'd be really interesting to see something added where, very similarly to the way players are able to change their names, each town had it's own ID, and that ID was linked to all portals, contracts, etc, and if you needed your town's name changed, you could just apply. It's probably not going to happen, but I'd love to see it.
This has been suggested many, many times, and unfortunately, it won't happen. Though I'd like to see it happen, it could require hours of work per application for GA's, depending on the town. If this was to happen, the app would need to cost about 300k, or some other large amount.
