    Suggestion:
The title says it all. My suggestion is that we there should be a way that town owners can change the name of a town that they own.

    Benefits:
I think this suggestion can only be beneficial for multiple reasons. The main reason being that it gives mayors the chance to personalize a town without having to get a new one by upgrading to mayor, president, and so on. I personally sold my mayor town a while back and am looking to purchase towns but I want to be able to name the town myself. For example, one of the towns that I currently own is called "thebathroom"..... I think that speaks for itself and I don't think I have to explain why I wish to be able to change that lol. If somebody planned on purchasing a town and converting it into a giant 200x200 farm, then wouldn't it make sense to be able to change the town name to something synonymous with farms? It would also make identifying town types (ex. farm town, plot town, etc.) a lot easier.

    Negatives:
There are none that I can currently think of. Im not saying that whenever somebody acquires a new town that they have to change the name, Im simply saying that they should have the option to.

    How it would work:
Now I am not a mod (obviously) so Im not entirely sure how to process would go. However I have a few suggestions for this, the first one being that we add a "Town Name" application in the forums that mayors would have to fill out. I think there could be a small charge to do so also, maybe like 10k or something (this would make another way to take money out of economy which is good). I made a simple model of how the app could look below:
    • IGN:
    • Current town name:
    • Are you a current mayor of this town?:
    • Do you have the applicable cost (10,000 ECD) in your balance:
    • Link to original Town app:
    • How did you make the funds for this application. (Lying will result in a ban):
    • What will be the new name of your town:
    • Reason for change of town name:
    • Do you have to original owners permission? (please tag him/her. They will need to respond stating that they agree/disagree to the name change):
    • Do you have the permission of your co-mayors? (please tag them. They will need to respond stating that they agree/disagree to the name change. If you are the only mayor, write N/A):
Now I'm not sure about the actual programming or whatever it needs for this, however I think that if ECC can have username changes available..... why not town name changes?

Even though I would love this to be implemented it would be ALOT of work for game admins such as
    -Renaming Portals
    -Renaming town warps
    >.< I know there is a lot more but i can't think right now lol
    Anyways -1 from me sorry.

@Bashdash100, do you think that maybe making it cost 50k, then it would be worth? That's a lot of money out of the way to change signs and a warp name. If anything they can just charge more if there is a warp to change or portal to change. So 10k for the town. 20k extra for a portal. 20k more for a warp.

Spawn portals, warps, pvp arenas and town to town portals. That's a lot of things to rename. You underestimate how much work that costs.

As Kuke said, and as everyone else has said in the previous 127 suggestions for this, there's way too much work that would have to go into this.
    -1 not worth it

Ok, then make it cost more for each thing. That would be a ton of money out, to change names.

+1, not all towns do have town portals, warps, etc. I know a lot of users on the server wish to change their town names.

Maybe extra 10k for each feature renaming?

If the town has these things that is.

Here's my idea: If the town has no features, make it regularly priced. However if the town does have features, bump up the price a lot.

These are all great suggestions. We can toy around with the cost and price all we want but I agree with @UnitedStates2002 that depending on how many features the town has (ex. portal, pvp, etc.) then it should cost a lot extra. @Ellie27 is right, not all towns have these features. I know that some of the towns that I personally would want to change the name of, don't have a single one of these features.

The main issue that is arising from this is that it would take too much work. I never said that it wouldn't, and I am completely aware that this would take ALOT of work on the mods end. However, any project or plugin that this server has ever had ever since it started, has taken work, and a lot of it. I find that more than half of every suggestion gets shut down simply because people believe it would be "too much work". Yes, some of them would, but I really think that this would be well worth the work it would take to implement this suggestion into the server and would only improve ECC. Please take this into consideration. Thank you

Perhaps for every feature that needs to be changed?

    First of all, that.

Now, if we would only have additional fees per renamed town feature, as mentioned above...
Many contracts involve town names. If those towns are renamed, searching the name history might not be that easy... imagine I call my town TownA and rename it to TownB, but have a valid contract in place for the name of TownA. Now somebody else creates a TownA. (Since mine got renamed, the name is vacant again.) How should we prove that the contract relates to the former TownA and not the current TownA?

Im not entirely sure what the mods are capable of doing and what can be changed so part of what I say may be wrong. But with name changes couldn't the same exact thing happen? Whats the system for that? We can use a system very similar to that of the name change.

Once again, I know this takes work. Quite frankly, I'm just tired of reading almost every suggestion getting shut down because its "too much work" even though they are great suggestions, and then I come on and find that something else was added that might have taken the same amount of work. Again since I'm not a mod I cant accurately tell how much work something would take, but I know for a fact that some of the things that have been added over the past year have take wayyyy more work than this would take. Never said this was an easy task, I just think that enough people on this server would like to see this implemented for the work to make this happen be worth it.

It's not only about the work, it's about the problems that come with it.

That was possible because of our @tag system. TOwns were never tagged. Custom-coding something like this would also not affect older contracts that are still valid.

What if there's a way to offset the work?

For example, if you change your town name, you lose all town amenities (if you have any), etc.

Timestamps of the contract and the Town Name Request. But I do see what you mean.
