Minecraft Name: EPIC_CHICKEN2 Suggestion: Allow the true owner of the town to apply for a "name change" of their town. Reason: I believe people may regret the town name they chose, or in my case, claiming a town and wanting to name it differently. Any Other Information: ^^ Explains it all. If this did go through, I would believe it would be something that would be paid for, and an application would be posted in the "Staff request" section. Link To This Plugin: I don't know if this needs to be coded or not.
+1 What reasons wouldn't we do this? It takes money out of the economy and satisfies users with a good town name.
Andrew used to allow town name changes... He took them out, for (last I knew) unknown reasons. Usually he has a good reason for taking out features/applications/etc. I don't need town name changes anymore, but I can see how it would be helpful.
You have to remake the whole region in order to change the town name. The whole main region, I have no idea about pvp regions inside towns.
+1 only problem is the way it works is if you renamed your town you would need new portal warp and chat if u had and a new pvp area as well But I would like this as well Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I like it even though pattsburg is an awesome name for a town, there were some pretty terrible names i was considering at the time *chills run up spine*, +1
Well, I think that might be something a lot of people want, but, I feel like we would first need to find out why Andrew removed them as a possibility. The apps used to be possible, as Moofink and BLT said. I'm also not sure who would process these apps i.e.: The GA's or Andrew. I'm always up for less work for Andrew, but without knowing how the mechanics of the old app worked, I can't know for sure if the GA's themselves could do it. I think we might just have to wait and see if Andrew responds to the thread.
This might not be used in Staff Requests, but likely Mayors+. It doesn't make much sense for it to be in Stagg Requests since it would require a fee. Other than that: +1
I second Revan's thoughts and add another: Many services such as PVP arenas and portals are extensions of the town name. Considering portals, let's say I have a town named "Town A", and I have a portal for "Town A". Now, I rename it to "Town B"... Someone else then applies for the name "Town A" but my portal in Towns still says "Town A"... This not only would create a transportation confusion, but if the new "Town A" wanted a portal, the portal name would have to be different than simply "Town A"... I think it is best when everyone makes a town to do a fair amount of thinking of the town name before establishing the town.
I can see this causing a lot of issues. ONE example: I put in an app for Exampleville and get the town. Later on I decide to change the name to WhateverCity. Some time later someone else puts in an app for Exampleville. Now when we link to apps, there will be confusion as to which app an unsuspecting third party has to link to. And which app the staff will be confirming. It can be done, and I am trying to strip the example down to its bare essentials, but this could get really confusing down the line.
town chat channels, town warps, town portals, town pvp, almost everything related to a town is linked by name. Renaming a town = renaming all those things. And frankly, that's too much work for what it's worth.
If you care about your town enough to rename it you probably also care about it enough to have purchased at least one feature for it.
Then it would be less of a problem, but we would still have to figure out if they don't actually have features. Also, allowing only towns without apps to rename would be somewhat odd. Best thing you can do is think carefully about your town name before making it.
