This topic was inspired by moofink. I realized that in a week I went from living in a ravine to up in a apartment. So where did you first live before becoming a resident or joining a town?

I have always lived in the wild or my own town - or, er, in my case right now, I live.. no where. I just have chests on the ground, a bed between two trees and three lamps. xD;
-
i started out in the wild with my friend and 2 other guys in a small underground house then left and went off with my friend and build another underground house, which was griefed alot so we moved again into a mountain, untill we moved into KebrokHills where we still reside.

The Story of Great Sir Monkeybutt to his Residency...
I joined the server in late August, having nobodies what this server was about, and running around asking noob questions. I see a person named GEDALYA walking towards a portal, and I call to him, saying, "hey GEDALYA wanna build with me". It takes a bit of hesitation, but he agrees. I walk to a portal (this is at a spawn we had months ago) next to a wall that had the word "WILD" written in green wool. But! Before I even enter the portal, a man named Sios calls to me and my building partner. At first we ignore it, but when we are force tp'd to him, we decide to follow. At the last second, one more builder (coltonevans1221, a person that has not been on for months) joins the group. We exit out a portal. Our adventure begins...
Part 2
After trying out a few abandoned homes (one being a dirt hut with a single crafting table) we find refuge in a forest with an abundance of wood. Using our fists and sheer strength, we cut a couple of trees down. A few yards away, I see colton, cutting down trees too. Being the nice person I am ( xD ), I ask him to join us in the construction of our soon-to-be wild city. He agrees straight away. We start our building, with Rezonl and HDvorteX watching our every move.
1 week later...
Our house is built, along with a watchtower and a reed farm. We have sold a plot for money that we all share evenly. Nothing much else happens really. All is peaceful. Until the day...
I log on, ready for another great day of minecraft. But nothing looks good... Our reeds are gone. There are holes scattered all around the house. Our ladders are gone. I was angry. Angrier than you could imagine. Immidiately, I call up Sios, my mentor and my idol. :D He gives me the name, and as soon as I see him, I ask him why he griefed. Eventually, he apologizes and agrees to return my stuff he griefed.
3-4 weeks later...
A SeniorMod named bkchaney (yes, we had those) asks me, "How much money do you have, monkey?"
Quietly but excitedly, I respond 2k. Amazingly, I see the green letters of $13000 has been received from bkchaney.
That was the happiest day of my life. Well, one of them.
That. Is my story. Written on my phone. Took half an hour. -
How Rabidworm became a resident (format inspired by monkey :p)
Part One (pre-plot ownership)
when I first came on the server, i kept trying to punch things in the spawn, but it was protected. so i RAN out to the wilderness (didn't know about build portals, probably a good thing :p) and a spot where no one was around. dug down to mine diamonds, cam back up for lack of food deciding to farm. lay out a MASSIVE wheat farm, collect all seeds, and realize afterwards i couldnt place water =_= kept mining diamond till i could afford a plot, bought one in Flintwood.
part Two (post plot-ownership)
so i got a plot in flintwood. saved up enough to get a 20x20 ( i thought it was huge at the time :p) built a farm on it. started to work in farm, got around 11k, and saw the lottery =_= and away my money went. farming more to get money back, having forsaken the lottery after 40k losses, and around 11k a neighbor moved in next to me called (something). one day, as i was exploring the town, i decided to see what (someones) house looked like inside. doors werent locked, walked in, and for teh lulz tried to open a chest. it was unlocked. so, unlike most builders, i locked his chest for him, and put a sign saying pm me to get unlocked. since heis door wasnt locked i also took a diamond block so it wouldnt get stolen from him. next day, he pm's me, i unlock and return block. two days later I came online, and found i was unable to farm my pumpkins. i was at 14.3k. so close. apparently, as i figured out later, a co-mayor of the town had submitted a grief report before i talked to (someone) and the co mayor hadnt talked to (someone) either. after a few days, when he was on at same time as me, all was resolved and i got my perms back, farmed, go resident, and moved to RepublicCity, and then farmed for mayor, and sold plots for Pres :D
and that is how it went-

I had a crude reed farm built in the wild back before there were so many towns. It was far from any gate and rather well hidden. Had a little dirt shack next to it with a signle chest, furnace, and crafting table. Lived there for a few days before buying a plot in Las Vegas. Middle of my first week on the server i was a resident, Middle of my second week on the server i was a Mayor. About a month after i started here i was a president but only had one town. Due to there being to many presidents with one town we all got a refund and downgraded back to mayors. I left the server shortly after that happened due to real life stuff and recently came back.
Still miss my little reed farm. Wasnt good money and i didnt really farm it for anything besides bookshelves latter for decoration after i started my town. Basically only had it to hide that chest in so i could store my mining loot. Still have most the loot i collected back then somehow lol. Alot of diamonds and gold and iron ive been hoarding forever.
Just started rebuilding my town since when i was gone it kinda fell into a rather ugly place and most of the people who had plots have also been gone for months now, Tons of random ugly pumpkin farms got mowed down and a few houses just built a large tower, new portal area with a town hall on it that connects to my personal house and brand new street layout and finished the wall around the town (cept for rebuilding the towers on the corners since they dont look good). While i was gone from the server i still played single player and got alot better at building so updating my whole town to show that. -
Keep these amazing stories coming guys! We all started out with a story. Mine is lame and just involves me nearly drowning a few times.
I joined this weber about a week ago. At first I thought it would be lame or impossible to play on but I tried anyway. I went through a build gate and was in the middle of an ocean. I kept on moving not wanting to try to live there and eventually found land and a ravine with an abandoned mineshaft in it. So I went in by nearby water spout and carved out a house there. It was ok at first and I sold leaves to the server and tried to sell wild grass to no avail. I then realized a food problem and started a wheat farm with eight spots for wheat. I left a row in the middle for water when I got the iron. I was heartbroken and frustrated when I could not place water. I left my house to go mine trees and leaves when a random idea appeared. My grandfather had taught me a little about irrigation canals. So I payed a few seconds of attention and behold, a little pond almost right above my little farm. I went to work digging a tunnel down there and eventually, after nearly drowning three times I had broken into my farm, tight where I wanted it. I cried for a minute then built a small chamber for a tree farm by my mine to be. In the mine I dug to bedrock and mined red stone coal and iron. I was mining a coal vein when on the chat someone says "apartments for sale to builders, pm me" I hit that t key faster than the speed of sound and had a message typed out and sent. The mayor was Accalex and I bought a first floor apartment from him for about 300. I had made all this money of of cobblestone and redstone mind you all. Only after I had moved my stuff and changed my home had I realized what I had done. I left my little ravine home forever for a tiny apartment. I was sad and I cursed myself for my stupidity. So if anyone finds it can you pm me the coordinates? I really miss my old home and I want to make it better and a meeting place for good friends of mine. Maybe even the homeless moofink.
Ps. Holding competition for whoever can find my ravine home. Also, thanks to Tkick for giving me 3500 to help get resident. Give him money and support the wheat price raise back to $2 or bread to $6!! -
I had a small house carved into a hill. I mined my way to about $3000 and bought a house in flintwood.
After that I farmed my way to $15 000 in the public farm.
My story isn't very exciting :) -

My Story!
Ok, So this was a LONG time ago so I'll try to remember.
Part 1, The first day
I go into the north gate (this was back in May 2011) and i noticed a sign saying "Sky City" So i there and see a city, I'm like "COOL!!!" So I try to cut down a tree and it says "Can not build here" :(
I move away and fall into a hole, try to get out... "Can not build here" /spawn
I go back into the same hole and decide to go far out and destroy a bunch of trees
I get around 5 stacks of wood and ask "How do I sell stuff?" Some awesome person said /sell [item] "thanks!"
I sell those and go back to spawn acting like a rich fella
Follow a guy into a town called SoulWood and I try to enter it. Door is locked, Gotta apply for a plot!!
I apply and get accepted my a Awesome person called Larsphee.
I ash Lars.. "Where can I build?" He replies "Hold on, im leveling out some land right now"
As he levels it out I take a look around.
He levels it out and I build a small rectangle and log off.
Part 2, The week after. Journey to Resident!
So i made my house. a rectangle with purple floor.... Terrible!
Soon EGKoston moves in next door. We become friends and I give him 2 shrooms for money (they were 3.50 each back then)
I mine a around 20x20 place out behind my plot and make a mushroom farm and farm that to resident.
Get resident then help EGKoston get resident.
Soon after that I meet Canada_Blue at his shop buying stuff. We Become friends and I help him.
Part 3. The Mob Trap Maker.
I decide to build mob traps for money. Got around 50k from mob drops till it got removed.
Spent it all on crap :)
Part 4. The rest!
So around 3 Weeks after I joined I apply for Moderator!
I was just messing around with D0rc, Talking to him in chat. "[Resident] Synwannabe: I love you d0rc!" "[SeniorMod] D0rc: *powerful sigh*" "[Moderator] Synwannabe: You know im kidding right?" "[Moderator] Synwannabe: :O!!!!!!!" [Resident] BLTwitch: I hate you syn -.-"
i was so happy when I got mod but after 2 months of people just constantly wanting me and annoying me (I was already mad and annoyed, was told to take a break... didn't know it would cost me if I didn't)
I snapped in mod applications. Banned for a week, joined a crappy eco server. Got unbanned tried to get on... got constantly bored and just quit....
After around 6-8 months I decided to log in.
Enjoyed my time...
And here i am now Mayor and having fun! -
person13's story
Chapter 1 The Journey
Upon joining the server, I did what I usually did when joining new servers: walk for 30 minutes until I get as far from civilization as possible. Going through a portal, I found myself in the center of a vast plain, surrounded by shabby. griefed cobble structures. I chose to head North, it being my usual way of travel. After doing so, marching through several perilous nights, I finally stopped on a dune in the center of a desert, overlooking flat sand planes, bordered by a river, which would later become the site of my initial attempt farming. On the other side lay a vast, snow-covered pine forest, and sited to the left of it was a massive, frozen lake.
Chapter 2 The Base
Upon arriving at my destination, I quickly settled in by making an 8x8 cobble pyramid-like structure, planning to make that my theme throughout my stay on the server. I used half-steps to make the openings windows, and covered the floor with white wool that I had gathered in my travels. Knowing that I would need to quickly gather ores if I had any hope of surviving in this harsh land, I made a sandstone road leading to an area to the left of the immediate vicinity of my home, and built a 3x3 mineshaft to bedrock, of which would consume a total of 3 days of my time on the server. Upon reaching the bottom, I began my branch mine to gather valuable ores, iron, gold, and, greatest of all, diamonds.
Chapter 3 The Disappointment
After gathering enough diamonds to make a sword and pick, and ample supplies of iron to make more, but less necessary tools and a set of armor, I gathered obsidian to make a portal, with which I hoped to gather glowstone for my planned structures. However, while gathering it, I heard rumors in chat regarding "fire placement" and "water placement," as well as "ranks."Disheartened to learn that I would be unable to create a farm on the land, and easily gather my materials by making a portal to the Nether, I chose to gather funds to quickly purchase ranks and other features. I began construction of a primitive 5x20 pumpkin farm upon the river, which would also serve as my bridge to the forest, as well as a wheat farm that would cover the entire coastline on the forest bordering the frozen lake. Satisfied with knowing I would have a stable food supply and income, I began construction of a long-delayed project, a sandstone pyramid.
Chapter 5 The Project
Having built pyramids before, I knew that the construction of one would be more than ample to bring some level of fame to myself. I also knew that it would take vast quantities of sandstone to build it; therefore, I quickly set about flattening the nearby plains to gather sand for my building. After some deliberation, I settled on a 31x31 pyramid to maintain the sharp pinnacle at the top of the pyramid. However, only 3 levels into construction, I ran out of sandstone. Knowing I would need much more, I began creating a quarry nearby to gather more, the dimensions being 20x128xwhen-ever-the-sand-ran-out. After several long days of work, I finally finished my construction, and realizing mobs spawned inside these buildings from previous experiments, I set about harvesting the mobs to gain materials for future needs, amassing 20 enderpearls, 2 stacks of bones, plenty of zombie flesh to consume should I run short of bread, and other innumerable quantities supplies. Knowing I would be well supplied arrow-wise, and food-wise, I set myself to more work in the mine, learning the value of many ores, such as redstone, lapis, and gold. Also, because I had run out of diamonds using the shovels I used for sand-harvesting.
Chapter 6 The Discovery
After amassing approximately $8,000 in funds from my labors, I began to grow lonely, not having any form of social contact with other players on server, now averaging 200 players during my sessions. Harvesting several pine trees a distance from my house (for I had harvested all others nearby) I met several players in the Local chat and, after some investigation, learned that there was in fact a TOWN merely 500 blocks away from where I had been residing. Overjoyed, I quickly questioned the owner as to whether or not I could buy a plot. She showed me several plots previously laid out, but I found none of them to my liking. Out of curiosity, I asked her if I could purchase a plot on top of a hill by many of the town's farms. She and I set then set about laying out the plot for it and the details of the transaction, settling on a 20x20 plot for $2,000. Having bought the plot, I set about constructing a medieval themed cabin, having 3 stories and a basement, and having a sugarcane farm to the right side of it (for there were no town sugarcane farms) and a pond in the front, and a stone brick road running between the cabin and pond to the farm. Knowing I was settled in to a town now, I figured the best thing to do would be to benefit the community as best as I could, therefore I set about expanding the town farms, primarily the pumpkin farm, that I may gather funds more quickly, soon amassing what was needed to buy resident with some to spare.
Epilogue
After gaining several ranks, I purchased Pilot so that I could build vast structures in the Aether. My pyramid was griefed to oblivion now, and I would need space to build as I wished. I own 2 towns, currently, planning to make it one of the best on the server in a 3x3 grid. I have also gathered funds for several planned projects, amassing a current sum of $143,321.79. I hope to continue my adventures, that I may assist this new server, possibly the greatest one I've joined in my 2 years of owning Minecraft, the greatest game of all time, and that I may create incredible structures, assist other players in all their needs, and create a vast town to accommodate the hundreds of new players now joining the server. Let us together make this server the greatest of all in the world of Minecraft!-

Well I started 2 weeks ago or so I first asked help many times in chat then someone said do /kit starter so I did
Then I went into a gate where I spawned in water and drowned then I went to a wild portal and walked for a few min so then I built a house and I met a nice room mate then a guy grieved my house in front of my own eyes and stole every thing from my chest (I didn't know about LWC) so then me and my cousins walked from a portal for like 30 min the we built a wild town where a few other guys joined us. We got most of our funds from voting then I baugth a plot in goldville which I'm am now co-mayor of. Then I saved up for resident and baugth it. I am still living there. -

I found ECC when I was watching my brother play on his friends account (at the time I didn't even have a minecraft account). He found a town called Flintwood. The next day I bought minecraft and joined ECC right away. I lived in an underground hut next to Flintwood. I was mining to save up enough to buy an apartment for 600 (At the time I didn't know about voting). I finally got my apartment and I farmed in the town's public farm. I sold my apartment and got a plot with my brother and his friend. Then I pumpkin farmed for awhile and got my 15k for resident. Once I was resident, I was added as co-mayor of Flintwood. I pumpkin farmed to get mayor (I also got a loan for mayor). Once I was mayor, I got my town GoldVille. The owner of Flintwood quit the server and told me that he was leaving and he was giving Flintwood to me. That is where I stand today. Owning 1 town and 'owning' another town. That is the story of GoldenArmor12.
THE END -
My friend told me to play... I left nimbus city and made my own town. I made a cactus farm. I got a portal. I made 'mirage city'. Map reset. The end.

I started at may 25th, I walked somewhere and started building a town, which became known as mobtown.
after 6 days of mining and building and selling the cowstatue to MoofinK I made enough money to become a resident (It was 20k back then)
I was really lazy so I donated $70 to the server and for 84k, I bought a town and called it Mistral City (I found out it was the same as yogscast like a week later)
I started building floating islands and my town became a fairly popular town.
Around 2 weeks after becoming a mayor I applied for mod (With a really crappy application :B) and I became an assistant-moderator (later known as moderator)
I suggested the ability to have multiple towns and andrew created the president rank, shortly after I became a president and I got my second town (Nox)
After building nox I got another town called Arcanus but I never constructed anything there (later known as SECelestia)
When the map reset was going to happen I felt the need to build upon my floating island idea and I ended up with the idea of Celestia (and it's 1.5m stone :|) Which would cost me around 800k.
I suck at raising money but I was a nice guy and I eventually got a generous 200k donation from IxIHEADCASEIxI when he was still winning the lottery together with Wolvie.
I eventually got 4 towns but I needed another town I suggested to andrew to be able to get even more towns and he raised the limit to 8 towns.
I eventually got my 5th town (when it was still cheap :B) and I placed 4 towns in a square (now known as Celestia)
I ended up wasting all my money in the lottery, I won 150k once and I got my 6th town (Ithrilis) and I started building there.
Shortly after I finally started building on Celestia and I am still not finished and I most likely won't ever finish it -
All I remember is walking through the bushes via the north portal, I kept walking for around 10 minutes (All this happend on augest 20th I think) until a came upon a random few grains of sand blocks, I walked over them, and that was the day I met Sios and EGkoston.
Then the rest is kinda borin'. -

If you really want to know...
While I was playing on my cousins server, one of my best friends, EGO_downmaster, showed me this server. He showed me a place to build, which was called Lakeside. Lakeside was not a protected town, but at the time wild grief was not possible. So, after I built my brick house we started mining. We mined. And mined. And mined. And mined. Then I finally got bored, and went to make my own wild town. It was called Craft City. So, as it went, I donated for 120k ecodollars, and bought resident and mayor. Strangely enough 1 day before Craft City was protected, a town named Game Central was made 1 block away from Craft City's border. The owner of Game Central and I had a small dispute and decided to let the matter rest.
~~~Town Development~~~
As sadly it is, Craft City was never a popular town. Instead, it was basically my personal house. Then President got added. I bought it. I simply used it as a flashy rank until Kukelekuuk00's "dirty hills" came up for purchase. I bought, and protected. But being lazy as I am, I didn't copy it over when the map changed, so I lost it.
The rest of the story is pretty boring, so I'll save you the trouble. -
So kuke, when did you become a cactus? Or were you born as one?
-
Well this is my Starting Adventure
It was my first Minecraft server...I got into one of the wild portal and saw a MESS. Floating dirt, cobble, random water/lava almost everywhere. I was really surprised. Then, I walked straight forward till I found a better land with trees and a beatiful Landscape and I build a nice little wood house. After finishing it, someone JUST GRIEFED HIS WAY IN and started breaking all the house. (I didin't knew that griefing is allowed in wild) I was REALLY raging so I called for help in global chat and I think that kuke answered me and tp'ed to me explaining me that griefing is allowed in wild and he can't do anything.
I was VERY mad so I bought myself some diamonds (3) and make a pickaxe. I then made a super long mazein the earth going down to a cave system where I build my little town with enchantement room, sugar cane farm, tree farm and alot more. Since then, I never got griefed again till I bought a plot in a town named "Birchtown".
I bought this plot only to make a farm but didin't worked so well. I just finished making my little wheat farm when 2
guys just came from their house and Started Griefing All the farm and all the houses around it. I was really angry because I knew that griefing was not allowed in protected towns, so, I told it in global chat and right after, 4-5 super-mods just tp'ed to me and saw the griefers. They banned them but since then EVERYBODY left the town...it was a ghost town, I was the only one there. I build a 6-floors pumpkin farm to rent it and make myself money to be able to buy Resident.
Thats where it ends. :D
