People use hacked clients to earn money from sg. If what he is saying isn't part of the hardcore economy then i dont know what is.

If they have multiple complaints about them hacking up or even past experiences of them hacking then they should be required to send a screenshot. Its their fault for breaking the rules and using hacked clients, they should have to send a screenshot.


Edit: For those saying its their privacy and their right to decide that they shouldn't have to send a screenshot, here is what i have to say about it. They lost that right when they used a hacked client. Also what kind of private things do they need to hide if they are just taking a screenshot? Take a screenshot of the sky or ground, or even spawn if you have that much privacy. Its not like the screenshot is going to be sent around the entire server, just to that mod that asked for it.

If you play survival games (not sure about PvP) on any given weekend day you will come into contact with loads of "sketchy" players, and this would help especially if this was required procedure when someone asks a mod to keep an eye out for someone.
Also, look at the complaint system, there are TWO mods who give judgment on players hacking they are also Game Admins, so they do not have a lot of free time, this is a simple way to help make their job easier, while helping keep the community free of people so terrible they need to use outside clients and cheat to win a VIRUTAL GAME fight.

Also, many people get caught accidentally, which is a frightening reminder how many people can get away with it, this would be a great improvement.

Do you have any idea how easy it is to hide it? Most clients offer a button to disable it in case you need to take screenshots, this is literally a couple of seconds of work. This would do absolutely nothing besides inconveniencing a lot of people who are likely innocent.

 

You can always ask for a players options screen, that is where it tells you to turn off a hacked client most of the time. If not ask for a players version folder. Only the version folder, to make sure there is no other information such as screenshots or last login.

 

That's inconsistent among clients, you'd end up having to take 5 screenshots of different menus. And even then it's not reliable, because some clients even offer special keybinds to disable it all. (Meaning there won't be a button, making it absolutely untraceable)

 

Version folder shows all, believe me. Hacks arn't mods, the only hack that wont be in the version folder is hacks like zans mini map and x ray, all pvp / game altering hacks will be in a hacked client via the versions folder.

 

version folder shows nothing either, it's easy to fake. All you have to do is create a fake version folder with some normal minecraft versions in it.

I have many version directories, and at least 5 of these are hacking clients I just took 10 seconds to rename them all into normal folders. (The reason I have 5 hacking clients is because I test them out to see if stuff changes every once in a while. I don't actually use them on ECC)

 

-1. Even with a hacked client its easy to get away with a screenshot... Either with what's stated above, or simply photo shopping. Take picture, log out without moving, login without hacked client, turn off chat, screenshot again. Simply crop and paste you can do in the default paint program.

No offense, but its just a dumb suggestion. I have never had a complaint and only played about 10 SG games in my time here, why should I be subjected to these random screenings? I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. Forcing this upon people will drive them away. Fast.

Yes.

A staff member cannot be expected to take time out of their day to message every suspected player periodically and evaluate the screenshots every time.
A player cannot be expected to know how to take screenshots, upload images, etc. It's common knowledge for all of us here that actively speak to one another, but believe it or not, some people don't know how.
The player cannot be expected to always be actively at their computer, always have chat on, always be able to take a screenshot without any files getting corrupted, have a proper upload, and be able to send it to a staff member every time. Minecraft also cannot be expected to not have another 1.7 glitch where you couldn't take a screenshot with your chat open.
As already mentioned as well, almost all good hacked clients will easily have an undetectable disable button that is not within options menus or other predictable places. There would also be no way to verify the images of the options menus was taken at the time of asking. Minecraft's folders can easily be renamed without causing the hack to stop working, and taking a screenshot of every minecraft version folder is extreme. Do you know how easy it is to just...move a folder out and get a screenshot of only the clean ones?

Between bypasses, staff activity problems, and problems with excuses from people "I don't know how to upload a screenshot.", "I was AFK...", "The screenshot is corrupted...", etc, which cannot under any circumstances be disproven, there is absolutely no way this system could work. At all.

 

Wrong here! If you appealed for hacking you >should< have had to take a screenshot and upload it. So this should be common knowledge.

Don't do this while minecraft is glitching then.

Also, the whisper should have to be included in the screenshot.

 

Actally im illitirite. I aint cumpleeted elemtarie skool yet.

The fact is that I could hop on SG right now and someone could take a crappy video of me killing them. They get all butthurt and say I'm hacking. That, for one is ridiculous(happens all the time, check the complaints section), and two it is a waste of time. For me, and for the mods.

Why should staff members have to waste time because someone starts whining? I get that you're not staff, and have not had the opportunity to contribute your time to running anything in your life. But I guarantee you that it is very annoying to try to do your moderating duties and be bothered by petty things like "Take a screenshot now or I'll ban you." I'm not going to sit here and point fingers, but there are quite a few people that need to grow the f*** up and stop hackusating every time they die.
