I really don't think that counts at all. I've compared radio stations around where I live. Some of the more rowdy ones do let swears in some songs through, but others will blot them out.

They don't all censor the same.

 

I think television would be a better route (if we followed anything like this), as every radio station can vary too much. However, television - at least in the US - does have a line when it comes to swearing and anything below R.

Makes sense, I listen to two radio stations and one censores (don't ban me for this please) "ass" while the other doesn't so TV is the better route.

You should read and/or listen to this interview from the author of a Brief History of Swearing. She talks about the direction that swearing is going in TV and radio and how there are really only a few swear words that aren't legal to say on TV and radio anymore.

 

Why do we need to follow someone else's example? Why don't staff just sit down, pull out a list of words, and decide on each one, whats above the line, and what's below the line.

there is a plugin on a server i used to play on that turns, say the f-bomb, into fudge, flea,flipper,etc. we could easily avoid all of these situations with this awesome plugin.

 

I personally hate plugins that change what you typed, but if it made people feel good by simply typing the word in, and no one else seeing it, then I'm all for it.

Do what?

 

There are literally dozens of variations for one curse word. It would be literally impossible to obliterate them all and wouldn't be worth Andrew's time unless he REALLY wanted to crack down on swearing.
