shame the guy who said he was gonna bring it up decided to, not too long after, go against it again:
It's a 100% logical suggestion, and the players support it. I just wish the staff could step outta their shoes for a second and realize a new player is more of a priority than their silly nickname, but that's out of my control.

I mean I feel like staff temporarily changing their names to fit in with a naming trend is fair but I still think that silly nicknames like **fish are quite detrimental to new players' understanding of the server.-

I don't know why this isn't a thing because it 100% should be. It's stupid if your nickname is different from your IGN as a staff member. Coloured nicknames that match your IGN? Fine. Nicknames like "fish" when your IGN is oreo1227 is just ridiculous. And please none of this "I'll bring it up with someone" rubbish. It's a good suggestion, it makes sense. Please implement it. +1

Although sure I like the idea of the suggestion I don't understand a lot of it honestly.
1. Both suggestions have just been targeting a Server Admin, I literally haven't seen anyone else do this and you haven't given us anyone else, this includes mods, smods, and ga's, all of the people are you supposed to be consulting in game. Server Admins are to be contacted via Forum pm, as the issues they are to handle are much bigger than some simple in game conversation. Nonetheless that may not be an excuse, but I don't believe that change was to be even permanent, and was used as a joke temporarily with no intent of "hurting new players", which was changed shortly after.
2. This is already basically a thing. I've seen it happen many times where a staff member has changed their name different with Nick, and has been told to change it by other staff members, we too see this as a problem. If I personally see it, I have no problem asking that staff member to change, and I've done this before.
It's not like we don't realize it's hard to contact mods if there name on /who or /list isn't even their IGN, we know, we make mistakes at times sure. I don't believe a full form suggestion is really appropriate for this though. Although I will be personally talking to everyone on the team about this, because it's something that shouldn't happen, whether it currently does or does not.-

+1 I have seen many cases of this. How are new players to know that the nickname is not their ign? Its crazy this is not a rule.

That's something totally different. I've messaged the entire team about it, reminding them about this. The team was already aware of this, we always ask other staff members to make their name appropriate to their IGN.

UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeHe's suggesting that staff should be required to have their nickname match their normal name at all times - There's nothing in the staff standards saying that they are and it if it is being enforced, it really isn't consistently being enforced. I really don't see what's so difficult to understand about this concept.

Not even true. There's another one in my other suggestion that's an SMod. Not sure why it matters though -- shouldn't effect the suggestion at all.
I'm glad you have some sense in you, but unfortunantly not all of your co-workers do. Oreo's nickname was active as "fish" for my entire login time (over an hour). Kinda stupid if you ask me.
Any who if it's something you've discussed, then it seems like people aren't following it. And if they're going to ignore something out of their own greed, then that sounds like a really bad internal staff issue.-

I think the suggestions have been targeting a Server Admin because that is the most notable example. A ServerAdmin, the leaders of the staff team and who should be the best examples in the community are breaking a basic principle, and that if you making yourself available you should do so as a staff member, not as **fish, in this case.
If they have much bigger issues to handle than "some simple in-game conversation" why do they bother with in-game conversation at all? Why don't they just do their duties and ignore the community? Because that's now how they should operate. They should be as much involved with the community as possible, while maintaining their staff dignity and being available to be spoken to, especially by new users who may not know about our nickname system.
That isn't an excuse. "Joking" should not interfere with staff responsibilities. Being able to be contacted by new players is one of them.
Over an hour. Well done. Maybe you should let the ServerAdmin know this is a thing?
Uhhm, what? "I don't believe a full form suggestion is really appropriate for this though."? That is literally what suggestions are for. When users see an issue, no matter how small it may seem, they make a suggestion about it to make it better or get it fixed. SO yes, a "full form suggestion" really is appropriate for this.
Thanks for admitting that it does. Hopefully you can bring some sort of change to this issue, even if you don't think it's a big deal.-

Just examples, how are builders meant to know who those mods are when they FIRST log on.-

Looks like even some of our own staff like to lie about doing this:

I understand both sides of this issue, but do wonder if our staff is required to be "always on it". Are they not allowed to have some game time of their own? Even new players find out rather quickly how to send a mail or forum pm a certain staff member it seems.
As an example but not mentioning any staff member in particular :D:
if a cookie is available for the required staff time (or even more most times), are they not allowed to be a fish for an hour or so as well? Are staff never allowed to be in /v either, even if they have fulfilled their staff time and effort requirements?-

They should never be "off it" when they're on the job. If they want to vanish, then they can vanish. But they shouldn't be confusing online players.
