I still agree they should be moved. There must be some way Andrew can hassle his way around this. They bother me quite a bit.
And I can tell you right now, the choosing for which Ads go to you depending on your sites and searches is very very wide. I recently used CCleaner (it cleans up your computer, including web history, cookies, searches, everything) because my computer was lagging a bit, and I get back on here, within no time at all, those Ads were back.
As far as I can tell:
ECC = Gaming.
Gaming = MMO Games.
MMO Games = These horrible Ads.
So basically, ECC = These horrible Ads.
It's not a direct Ad thing, it's not that I go look at Home Dept and then only get Hardware store Ads, I go look at Home Dept, and suddenly I see Star War's game Advertisements because they are on sale at Walmart, which is a store, which Home Dept is also a store. -

That's only one of the minor ones Nico, I've seen a few more like it, or worse.
But I'm afraid that staff is most likely going to take it down, it's not welcome here, like I said. But I think that it should stay, just to show people what we're talking about. -
If removing these ads makes andrew lose advertizement money, then I am against this suggestion.

While we discuss, notice the little x in the top-left corner of the ad. Click it to "mute" it. Do it enough times and AdSense should stop showing them to you.
-
Intellectualist BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Still, you have to consider the facts that, what's more important? Family friendly or money? If Andrew's income drops $50 a month, that'll easily make up in donating residents that can play the game. If you lose people due to Pornographic Advertisements, then you might actually lose more money from donators who can't play or don't want to play due to these Ads.
But I perfectly agree with you, any non-hurting financial options should be fully explored before we even think of something else. But if push comes to shove, we might have to do something, financial issue or not. -
Intellectualist BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️That's funny, mine doesn't have an x on it, it just says "AdChoices"
Okay, I reloaded a page a few dozen times and looked at a bunch of Ads.
Some don't have any buttons, some only have that blue button, and a few of them do have an x. I'm sure about these pornographic ones, haven't seen the buttons on it yet. -
Let me throw my two sense in here. Most of our younger users here more than likely do not own their own computer. It's up to the parents of these children to make sure that the computers are properly set up to filter such content. With the way society is today, chances are that the ads on here are not the first or the worst that they have seen. While I do agree that the ads are annoying, I don't see a reason to push Andrew to do anything about them. Like I said earlier, it's up to parents to make sure their children have the proper amount of content filter on the web.

Google uses websites you went to in the past, and uses that to select website mixing that together. We cannot do anything for ads that are placed as it is your ads.
What comes up for you is much different than maybe me, or another user.
I suggest just getting a Adblocker, or upgrading if the ads get to you.-

I would find ECC's financial status more important, because without it there would be nothing to make family friendly. Making ECC family friendly is a lesser priority when compared to making sure ECC remains open to the public. I however welcome any solution that does not hurt the server. -

Just get adblocker, it takes a few seconds if they honestly bother you. Honestly Andrew can do nothing about it, so either ignore it or let it go, or get the proper adblocker. If you're worried about financial status then you're just going to have to let them be. I'm sure I've seen related ads on barbie.com before, you can't rid or make the ads any better.

Intellectualist BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️By making ECC non-family friendly your hurting it more. What age ranges do you think play on ECC? Mostly, I'm assuming 10-14 would be the largest range. Lets cut half of those, BAM, more financial problems then losing money from ADs.
I'm unsure where your coming from, I personally no have experience running websites, but Andrew has said nothing about not being able to do it. -
Intellectualist BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️What's this? If I can't/won't download programs it's money or pornographic Ads?

Ads can also give you viruses... Adblocker has other benefits, too, and I am not sure why so many people are against it.
In the case of ad content, I rarely get inappropriate ads. Although you may not search for anything inappropriate, non-inappropriate words that are commonly used inappropriately will still be grabbed and used. And in any gaming community online, no matter what ad provider you use, you will always, no matter what, get inappropriate ads. Maybe not all the time, and maybe only once in a while, but they will still be there. It is impossible to remove them, unless you remove them yourself or take your own effort to hide them. It is not something Andrew can just do.
If parents are worried about their child's safety when it comes to inappropriate ads, they are out of luck, because other sites (even Facebook, Twitter, Nickelodeon, etc) will have inappropriate ads. It is up to the parent or child to block ads if they do not want to see them.
And besides the "loss of money" thing, some forums require you to use ads in order to use their services, as the ads pay them - sometimes not even to cut down your own fee for the service. As well, some forums also only have one - or no other - ad providing services, so they are stuck with what they get. So, if any of this is the case with our forum service, Andrew might not even be able to take the ads down or change them; and I am very sure he will not switch forum provides constantly until he finds one with ads that can be easily changed.-
