hi, i have noticed that sometimes ads come up for tynon, the online game, that show characters with very little clothes in the upper part of their body. their upper genitals show quite a bit, and i find it very innapropriate for children who might be playing ECC. it also says in another pornographic ad that "your friends won't be seeing much of you!" and "for men only!" so i thought, why would their be ads like this if kids go on this forum! it can mess them up for life. so please take this into consideration.
The ads are by AdSense and I doubt there would be any way for andrew to get rid of the ads besides removing them, but that is part of the forum donation. Try making an AdSense account and seeing if you can set safe content if you don't really want to see them.
i just want them to, maybe find another ad provider with nothing like this, because me blocking it would do no good to anyone else. i understand they need to make money to keep this server free, but why do they have to add boobs to the ads?
adblocker will only do good for people with the blocker, it will still be there. there has to be another ad provider somewhere.
The ads are how the website is up. Ignore them and grow up. Get adblocker, forum upgrade, ignore them. So many options, pick one.
I do not think you understand the issue. The issue isn't that this person doesn't know how to remove the ads for themselves, or is offended by the ads themselves. The issue is that the person doesn't feel the ads are appropiate for 8-13 year old players to be viewing. He feels that this server is supposed to be "family friendly" and the ads are not. Telling him to ignore them and grow up doesn't change the fact that there are young impressionable minds seeing these ads. With that said: While I understand the concern by the OP, I feel that the server owner has tried to choose one of the less offensive ad companies. I think it is good he is aware, but I don't expect much to change.
He's right, it's adsense, it's actually your fault if you have these ads displayed, adsense tracks what websites you go to and displays ads based on that.
whoa, theres no way thats true. i have absolutely no relation with this filth, and its sad you would accuse me of this. they need to get this removed in general.
I call BS. I search the ECC forums at work. I have my own Desktop that no one else uses, so I am the only one working on it. My machine is reimaged at least 4 times a year for security. I have never searched for anything that would bring those sites up, even remotely, and they appear for me as well. Even if I were to attempt it, the site would be blocked. Where ever you got that information, it is inaccurate.
Actually, if you look at this link it states that "In addition to seeing ads based on the types of sites you visit, you may also see ads based on your interests and more." Direct quote. I will stipulate to that. It may see this, minecraft website, as some kind of RPG or MMO related website, and be showing ads for other ones based only on that with nothing else to go off of. And I will stipulate that these ads may be an inherent "evil" (for lack of a better term). I just posted initially to clear up confusion. I agree that there isn't much that can be done.
