I do agree that now beginners tend to go away because the server is SG-beginner-unfriendly. What I meant is this: it is possible that all the donations collected by players that stay because the server is made SG-beginner-firendly are less that those collected by players who buy kits because the server stays as it currently is. Or maybe not, I don't know. For sure a more sophisticated analysis would be required to decide which is which.
But my point is: there's no need to chose in the first place! It is possible to keep the beginners and the kit donations!

Expipiplusone BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeI don't agree. What you say is true to the extent that we talk about player who have already purchased kits. What about players who have not (yet)? What incentive would they have to buy kits, if the payback is the same? The fact that the only kit-free arena would be overcrowded? Ok, if there's more players then your chances of winning are less, but the payback if you win is higher too! So your expected average gain is still more or less the same in the kit-free arena than in the kit-allowed ones: why buy a kit in the first place, then?
No: if we want kit-free arenas, they have to pay less than kit-allowed ones, because otherwise there's no incentive to buy new kits anymore and who owns the server would rightly refuse to introduce them. -
knears2000 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️You know, the problem is is that this has turned into Pay2Win. It's horse manure. Yes, the incentive to buy a kit is lower, however, the incentive is still there to those who want to. The incentive to buy a kit at this point is extremely low due to the fact that you need to purchase over $200 worth of kits in order to have fun. That's the issue.
If we really want to keep players here, we need a no-kit arena. That's the fact of the matter. Without it, we'll fall further into the pit of Pay2Win.
Just a note, I have $60 worth of kits myself, so don't think I'm biased.-

greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️I never necessarily said it would balance out what I've argued is it's a valid long term investment, and the ends justify the means. I don't think I directly stated this before, but I agree with this suggestion, just to clarify.
-
greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️I'm kinda confused as to what you're refering to with "those areneas" because it could really mean either of the two.
If you are saying more people will be in kit games I promise you the non kit arenas will have a overall greater attendance than the kit arenas. -

-
knears2000 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️Oh yes, there will be a higher overall attendance. Yet that proves my point. Kits are a problem that need to be solved. And when I say "those arenas", I'm referring to the kit arenas.
-
greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Ok and this suggestion is a solid and productive step to solving kits. I'm kinda confused by your stance here.
-
knears2000 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️SG is dead, correct? Why? Because of kits. By having a no-kit arena, it would revitalize SG, and give new players a chance at actually having fun on ECC.

+1 there are going to be big kitters complaining on this thread, but we all know that kits are bad and that we need to do what's good for the server overall.

I am not trying to create any form of argument here Knears (please don't find the need to defend your opinion) but I don't believe this will happen. Majority of the servers donations now comes through the purchase of sg kits. If this suggestion were to be implemented not only would some users want refunds but the server would also lose a great deal of donations.

Expipiplusone BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeNot if you set the rewards for kit-free arenas way below those for kit-allowed ones: http://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/suggestion-introducing-low-reward-kit-free-arenas.116693/
-
knears2000 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️It's my suggestion, therefore, I'm going to defend myself.
1. We lose countless amounts of players to SG on the daily basis. The unique player count is up yes, but the actual amount that stays is minimal, mainly in part due to SG.
2. 1 arena being open won't kill the Pay2Win that we have here. Yes, donations will go down a little, but in the long run, we will end up making more, as more players would be staying.
3. I have $60 in kits, and I'm not asking for a refund. Nor will there ever be a refund because one arena was opened to benefit everyone.
People that go insane about not being able to kill new players is sickening. It really is. Let them have fun, and the end will justify the means by having more donations come through because of players staying.
Don't advertise your suggestion on mine. Not ethical at all. -
Expipiplusone BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Tycoon ⚜️⚜️⚜️ Premium UpgradeUhm, my suggestion is not against yours: both are for opening kit-free arenas. I was just suggesting a way to get to the same goal which does not risk a reduction in kit donations.
And it's not like we get paid or win anything if our suggestion gets accepted. I really don't understand this "ethical" whining at all.
Wow, I'm such a bad person that I rated positively your suggestion, LOL
p.s.: Now I understand this:
But, you know, that's not how it works. You should have written «It's my suggestion, therefore, I'm going to defend it».
You are not your suggestion, and the fact that someone (me, as well as anyone else) tried to improve your suggestion does not mean that someone is trying to create a cyborg-you that will replace your person. That would probably be unethical. -
greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Does anyone have the numbers for the percent of donations that are sg kits? @oxwood2
-
This is extremely easy to do, and is quite simple too.
+1 for implementation
+/-1 on how I'm iffy on this, kits are a huge part of SG sadly the game really won't be the same without them.
For example, if I have kits, such as MIQ and buffer, my goal is to find armor, then go and kill people.
If it's a kit free, then I have to look for swords, and armor. Extending the game by quite a bit. -
greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️True the change will certainly change sg but I think most people can agree that change is ultimately for the better
-
knears2000 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️But isn't that what SG is all about? Scavenging for goods and using skill to win? Right? Greg truly hit the nail on the head.

Compared to many users $60 in kits is really nothing at all.
I myself have $350 or so worth and would find it quite annoying if this were to happen.
Sure it is not a /massive/ change, but it is still a change that would effect the money gain of those who own kits.
There was never such thing of a no kit game in sg, and now every single game there is a chance of one occurring.
Why can you not just be happy with that? I myself think the ratio of no kit games was well thought out and really does the job. -
greg45865734 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-Mayor ⚒️⚒️Well the problem is there are still plenty of builders and users leaving the server because sg is unfair. With this you can still play in an arena with kits and you can still use them.
