I would prefer it not be a vote. More than likely, the ones that people vote for are the more popular players which have more friends and less of a reason to quit, which wouldn't help. I'd like to see only donation and item scams to be refunded and the people refunded are picked random somehow. Loans need to keep their risk though.

 

The only way they can keep their risk is through not adding this suggestion. If you want this place to be the "hardcore economy" that the server claims it is, you cannot add this welfare type system that will just have people rely on the help of others and the server. It just creates a bad work ethic hand will inflate the economy.

 

Ok that makes sence and all but if an additional 5% tax is added and half of that pays for scams or as you put it 426k a week that usually gets taken out of the economy but doesn't. The issue I see with this is thats half of the additional 5% tax, wouldn't that just be canceled out by the other half of the 5% tax leaving the economy where it usually wouldn't?

 

Imo, you are correct, there does need to be risk in some places. I don't believe there should have to be risk when you are buying items or features though. In real life, you wouldn't be scammed when buying 64 diamonds for $2k, at least not as easily. Therefore, I don't think that being scammed like this would be called "hardcore economy".

+1 to that! And also I think scammers get off too easy. They just post a appeal and are back in like 5 days. If they post an appeal and are accepted back they should pay some sort of fine and this fine could be also used to help recently scammed players in the future.

 

That's why we have trade signs. There are so many ways to prevent a scams that if you get scammed through tossing items, I don't have much sympathy for you because there are many other methods in doing this, like buying and selling through trade signs. Scamming is usually done because people don't think through for their options, and when they don't and they get scammed, it truly is their own fault. And now that we have begun to baby them, there's no way for people that make a living off of lotto to have that taken away from them.

 

Trade signs only work on some items. Most of the items that are worth anything can't be used with a trade sign.

 

What about star tools, towns, loans etc? How do you use a trade sign for those?

 

Use a staff member. All scams are easily prevented.

 

The point of yours that I was replying to was that if this is added "staff would be babying us". If I use a staff member to help me trade, that still seems like it would be babying.

 

You're twisting my words here. Staff would be babying us if we were scammed and then reimbursed us. That would be babying, however, if they can PREVENT scamming, like they would be in this situation, that's the best alternative.

Then the scammer would get banned and once unbanned he would have to pay the fund that paid for the scam the money that the scammer scammed. (sorry if this is confusing)

 

My point exactly. It's too confusing, and how is the money taken out? How is it accounted for? Everyone going into this thought "Oh great! Let's help out scam victims", when really they never thought of the logistics of the entire thing.

And the "Charity Medal", seems really, really sketchy. Not in that sense, but if you want to be a Philanthropist, fine, but you don't need a medal for it. If you really, really want a medal for philanthropy, then you need to get some help...

 

Idk how this is your point exactly, but it really isn't that confusing. As for how the money is taken out I'm not sure what you mean by that, but I think you mean how is the victim paid. I'm not sure if there are commands that can transfer money for one account to another, but there probably are. However there are commands that can take money from an account and add money to an account.

As for the Charity Medal, first off I never said anything about a charity medal but I'll defend the point anyways. As you put it if you want to be a Philanthropist fine, yeah I agree if you want to help others out, awesome that's great. Yes you don't NEED a medal either, but nobody NEEDS medals either they aren't really a necessity, however they encourage people to do what is required to achieve the medal with the medal as a reward, because of this people will be encouraged to donate money to the fund for either the medal, just to help other people out or both. To sum it up yeah the medal isn't needed, but it will encourage people to donate money to the fund which is enough of a reason to implement the medal if this feature is implemented.

 

I know you didn't say anything about the charity medal :p. That's why there was the 'enter'. Also, it's encouraging people for the wrong reasons. There shouldn't be any encouragement, but rather it should be because they want to help people, not because they want a shiny medal. I really don't think it's a good idea adding the medal, or the suggestion as a whole.

 

Regardless of the intentions of the people who donate the money still goes to help people who have been scammed. Besides a lot of the people do want to help people the medal is just an added bonus, but yeah I am sure a lot of people will see it the other way around they get a medal which is what they want and they are helping people as an added bonus. Maybe that isn't the right reasons for donating, but it doesn't really matter because the money still helps people who have been scammed and it still helps keep them on the server. Personally I don't really have a set opinion on the suggestion as a whole because of the inflation issue with it and I don't think you can easily balance it's effects out.
