Dont allow scamming players to appeal. People think commonly now that, I have to pay back x amount by tonight. O well, i'll see you in a few days guys. This attitude is what keeps loan scamming going.

I know people who have loan scammed multiple times and are not fully banned yet. That's what needs to change.

    Although, interesting concept.

By that logic we shouldn't have ban appeals.

No. The fact that people can loan scam and appeal multiple times and drive good players to leave is not on.

That in it of itself is a radical move. So by taking the scammers away from the server, we now will lose double the amount of players. *claps*

The suggestion in it of itself drifts so far from a "hardcore economy". If you want to be a philanthropist, be my guest, but if you're doing it just for a medal, you're an asshole. You're doing it for fame, not to help, but for fame. As for staff repaying scam victims, why the change of heart? Why are you trying to help people that have been scammed while not trying to prevent it? That makes no sense, because if you don't change the problem, the solution is harder to solve. If we work on prevention, it would be a much better time investment than this suggestion.

    +1,
I, frankly, do not like giving out loans because of the idea of getting scammed and loosing my own money that I worked hard to earn.
I believe that this suggestion, if it's implemented, would be a great add-on to users who are frustrated and angry that they lost their money through loans.
    Please implement this! :)

I said this above but I'd rather not see this happen with loans. Loans are meant to be risky and refunding loaners means that loaning has a much smaller risk.

That doesn't make any sense, and that has nothing to do with what I said.

This Suggestion doesn't focus on scamming itself but rather on the effects of scamming and how we can minimize and ease the effect, which so far you haven't been able to disprove or give a solid reason why we shouldn't do it. And yes it does make sense because it eases the stress of being scammed and it keeps players on the server. As for the part of "why the change of heart" What because we didn't do anything about it before we can't do something about it now. This suggestion is about change. To want to change does make sense. "because if you don't change the problem, the solution is harder to solve." First off you worded this horribly. Second of all this suggestion isn't about solving scamming, you can't solve scamming and if we solved scamming it would be catastrophic to the economy. This is about helping people, this is about easing the stress of being scammed. If you want to create a solution that would stop scamming be my guest but it will be denied regardless if it works or if it doesn't. If you don't understand why preventing scamming would be bad for the economy feel free to ask and I will explain it. On to the point of this drifting away from a hardcore economy. That is a terrible point, just because this is a hardcore economy doesn't mean we can't try to keep users on the server. Another point you made is that if we do the medal people will do it for "the fame" and then you call them assholes. First off you're focusing too much on their intentions where what really matters is that it is helping people who have been scammed and it is giving them a reason to stay on the server. Just because someone does something for the medal it doesn't make them an asshole. It is just like doing anything else just for the medal, the only difference is this time they are helping someone other than themselves. If anything that's an improvement from before.

Someone tell the staff what perma ban is. Stop this 3-5 days ban BS! Everyone should get 1, maximum 2 ban appeals if he/she messes up again- ban forever. Will we lose some players? Yes. Will the experience playing on ECC be better? Yes. At this point no one is afraid of being banned because its just temporary. In the end its better to play with 30 decent players than with 130 a-holes.

    1. This has nothing to do with the suggestion if you want to suggest it go ahead. 2. Because we make a perma ban a legitimate permanent ban it doesn't necessarily make experience playing on ecc better. 3. This is an economy server, the most important aspect of an economy server is an abundance of players. We need a lot of players to have a good economy. You said it yourself and I agree if we do what you want we will have less players. 4. Plenty of productive, influential and beneficial members of ecc have been banned more than twice, just because someones is banned 3 times it doesn't make them incapable of being a good member of the server. If we do what you suggest we would lose a lot of good members.

Also knears has a good point doing this will just take away even more members from the server, and believe me we need those members.

So, number one, who decides this? Who decides who is worthy of getting their debt back? Who the heck has this gigantic power? It just won't work. If you don't trust the guy, don't get a loan. In real life I'm not going to get a loan from some shadey hobo dude, I'm going to get it from a corporation. Just no. Instead solving the problem, what you're doing is keeping it going, admitting failure. How about make a suggestion to keep stuff like this out of ECC?

Old chinese proverb; Do you extinguish the fire when it's out in the field or at your doorstep?

I agree with the suggestion but you have a point. If there isn't enough money for every scammed player someone has to decide who gets it and the decision is going to be 100% biased.

I see what your saying buy a possibility to doing a random selection to decide who gets paid and who doesn't. The thing is scamming is actually good for the economy and if we kept scamming out of ecc it would have devastating impacts on the economy. This suggestion is about reducing the effects of scamming on the victims. As for the Chinese proverb I don't see how that has anything to do with this suggestion or what you are saying.

Alright, time for my argument skills to come out.

Ok, this is totally off base. First of all, it's trying to put a band-aid on a deep gash that needs stitches. It's not doing its job. It will help probably two people out of ten. That's not gonna cut it. And as for the "qualifications for refund" that clou was talking about, it's a gray area. There's little information on how exactly the person(s) is chosen. Through amount scammed? Timeframe of playing? Too many questions about it that will eventually be biased or have not enough qualifications. Taking the stress out of a deal. Use a trade sign or a moderator. Either way can suffice. Those both take the stress out of a deal And yes, I just gave you a solid reasons why this is a waste of time and will not turn out well. And, it in all honesty is a waste of time. If you get scammed, sorry, but it's your own fault. You can prevent it from happening, but you didn't. Tough luck. As well, solutions to scamming.

My point is that for all the "help scam victims" it was either shot down by players or locked by staff. Why is that the second the SA suggests it, everyone is all over the suggestion and on board. It makes no sense, and I don't understand. And yes, I did word that horribly :p. I was trying to say that you cannot put a band-aid on something without trying to prevent it from happening. If solving scamming is catastrophic, then why are we trying to help scam victims when most likely the scammer will never appeal? Does that make much sense? No, it really doesn't. The players are involuntarily getting their money sent to someone that was scammed, which in the first place was preventable. I just don't understand it...

You truly cannot fully "prevent" scamming, but certain steps and measures can and will be taken in order to prevent it from happening. Like trade signs and staff members. If people vow not to use these methods of transfer, then fine. When they get scammed, it ain't my duty to help them out through playing lottery. Lottery sales will go down, without a doubt. So the idea of taking money from this so called "lottery pot" will not be as big as it seems. Dewsy made a valid point on how the lottery is such a vital money dumb, by that changing it could alter the economy extremely. Why would scamming be so "catastrophic to the economy"? I would like to know, and I will be able to argue you on the point, if it's what I think it will be.

It's a valid point. It's a drift from a hardcore economy. We're babying users into thinking "I can do whatever I want and still get repaid". It leads to a reckless trade facility. It's foolish to lead users into think that they can do whatever kind of deal they want and not have to worry about losing money. Reckless and foolish at it's best. Total leave from this so-called "Hardcore economy". Sure, we can try to keep users here, but it was their fault in the first place for making the deal. If they didn't know that they could get scammed, then they didn't read the rules. And if they read the rules, they knew what to do in order not to get scammed. It's all on them, not the users of ECC to pick up the slack. Yes, I called them assholes. They're going about the medal in the wrong way. If you truly wanted to help, you wouldn't be going for a medal. You would be helping people you can with what you have out of love, not for a medal. I can guarantee you that well over 75% of the people that apply for the medal will never do anything of that size to help someone out again. Unless it's a close friend of their's, they will not donate again to the people that actually need help. So, they're doing it for fame, and using the system for the wrong reasons. That's why they're assholes. And yes, if they help someone else out, and continue to do so, no, they're not an asshole. But if they fall into that 75% range, they are. There's some improvement, but minimal. If there was a catch, then sure it would. But you can't have a catch on this kind of thing. So the people that are doing it for the medal are only doing it for the medal and nothing else. That's why they did it, not to help but to look cool. And if you cannot accept that fact, then I don't know what to do. Those people are assholes, and that's why I said it.

If an economy relies on "crime" (scamming) there is something wrong with the economy. And does that mean that scamming is encouraged during a bad economy? The general excuse for turning a blind eye to the scamming is that it takes out money from the economy and this is stupid because there are many other ways to take out money from the economy.

Scamming really doesn't take much out of the economy. It just moves it around. If that's his point, he doesn't know what he's talking about.

No one is turning a blind eye to scamming. Scammers are banned. Maybe you're right though, maybe something is wrong with the economy and it's reliance on scamming should be changed. If you can find a way to do that I would love it as well as many others but the way things are now scamming is needed in the economy.
