Yes, because in my opinion keeping people here is more important than $50 per ticket per win, for one day a week.

Why should the lottery be hiked up because people made mistakes? Why do we need to constantly baby users who chose to take a risk, and it didn't pay off?

We continually try to make scam victims look poor and defenseless, when in reality we have never supported these types of trades, and constantly tell people not to risk it.

We should not have to constantly baby people to the point where they always expect help, especially on a hardcore economy server. Constantly donating will only lead to more scammers. If anything, we need less philanthropy.

 

I still disagree. It's not the player base that should be penalized for someone else's wrongdoing. If you get scammed, people shouldn't be forced into helping you.

But those who do shouldn't be taxed more to play. Also, tax is already high enough on lottery. 20% for a day is quite absurd.

 

20% for a day is only 5% more than usual. It's not enough to stop those who really want to lotto from doing so.

I don't see why we can't treat people with a little humanity to help keep them around. Sure, it's a hardcore economy. But a hardcore economy is nothing without people to participate in it.

 

5% is much more than you think. Sure, being nice is great, but it shouldn't inhibit from players. People who want to play lotto shouldn't have 20% of their winnings be taken away and given to someone who got scammed. If you get scammed, that's your own fault. You should have known going into the deal that you could be scammed. And if you did not know that, then you shouldn't have done the deal in the first place.

 

I've already thought it through. So no, I'm not kidding. Lottery is for people who want to play. And taxing people 20% over the 15% is extremely high. Yes, the argument is coherent because I'm saying that this would be exactly like kits. No one will play anymore. You'd be shocked by the amount of tickets bought would drop. If you took the 15% that is already taken out, then giving it out, I don't have a problem with it. It's when you increase the taxes is when I have a problem. Especially when scamming can be so easily prevented by not giving out your money/tools. It's their own loss, not the people's.

 

So a hardcore economy is giving people essentially assurance that every time they trade or get a loan, they will get money payed back? If anything, more people will trade and more people will get scammed. It's taking any risk out of trading.

 

I'm very well aware of that. I don't think it's right to tax even more on lottery. "No one's forcing you to play". I love that. No ones forcing anyone to play SG but we lose countless players to that each and every day. 15% tax is already too high for lottery! and now making it 20% is absurd. This is very similar to a practice done by the US Government that only worsens the poverty problem. This will make things only worse, not better.

Sorry? Having a high tax rate in the US increases poverty rates? I'm going to help you out here so you don't sound like an idiot when talking to your friends and teachers. 15% of Americans pay 0 taxes. Zero. That means they don't pay federal taxes, state taxes, property taxes, literally nothing. They are the ones below the poverty line, and the ones that need every single dollar the most.

The rest? Most of them pay very little taxes. 43% of Americans pay ZERO federal income taxes. Nothing. These people get the most out of tax breaks as well. I know you probably love watching your MSNBC and they tell you that all these millionaires get all the tax breaks while the middle class suffers in tax agony. That's cute.

Finally, I'd like to point you to this graph. You say taxes hurt the poor the most? Let's see who pays the most taxes by far, both in percentage AND in sheer value.

The top 50% of the American population pays 98% of the taxes.
The top 1% alone pays 17% of the taxes.


Please don't reference Steven Colbert and ECC as connections to the US economy. You'll look stupid and seem like you have no idea what you're talking about. And you do.

No, I was not referencing taxing actually. So no, you're looking like a fool posting that. I was referencing welfare, not taxes. Though I do hate MSNBC, a lot. I was not referencing taxes, rather welfare. Though I do appreciate you posting that, it's not what the point of my post was. If you really wanna think about it, I can get me and my buddy together, and him "scam" me out of $100k, right? So he gets banned, then appeals. I get however much money is in the stupid "lottery fund" and my friend gives me my $100k back. We split the money, and now we just made money. The system can easily be abused, yet that point has never been raised. Rethink this point please.

 

You wouldn't be paid twice. If you were given back money from the server, the scammer would have to pay to the server. Your scenario could easily be avoided.
