What you're saying is basicly "Really, just move on. Your life will not end because you get a funny rating on your post. Really just move on."

 

When an entire thread appears and explodes with upset people, there is an issue. That was the case of the Funny rating. People clearly get upset by it, and others need to realize that.

Not everyone is the same - people have different personalities, different lives, were raised differently, etc. One thing can be funny to someone, and hurtful to another. Something can be beautiful to one person, but ugly to the next. Just because you (general, not pinpointed) find something funny, does not mean someone else will.

Everyone here is a human (or I hope so, aliens would mean the world is probably being taken over), so everyone is born differently. We do not all share the same emotions towards something.

Although I really do miss the Funny rating for things that I find funny - and not, mind you, in a way to purposefully upset others - it is best for it to be gone. There are more easy alternatives to "Funny" (like, winner, creative, etc) than there are to cracking down on the bullying it caused (removing it is far easier than trying to judge a troll Funny from a non-troll Funny).

I can tell you I'm laughing at your for your pathetic complaint all day, it won't change the fact that it's offensive/hurting.

 

You can't complain because someone rated your post funny.


It's much easier to remove the command entirely instead of tackling complaint after complaint about funny ratings that would need an entirely new rule amendment, and would still cause problems.

He's already made fun of my ban appeal which I took seriously. What does it matter why he thinks it's funny?

 

Yes but it doesn't fix the fact that my son is still dead. On the other hand, if dying was removed, I'd never have the problem of my son dying.

Just like here, knowing why he thinks it's funny doesn't fix the fact that I'm offended now. On the other hand, if the funny rating was removed, I'd never have the problem of being offended.

 

It's not the funny rating that was hurting people. The funny rating is just a little face. People hurt people. These people will just find a different way to hurt someone if they want to and taking away the funny rating won't stop them it will only hurt others.

 

It was actually a large group that wanted it gone.

The only pros to having it back would be that you can rate something funny. Other then that, there's a giant list of cons.

 

And sadly it cannot be removed in only one section of the forum. It can only be removed entirely or not at all.

 

So? I lost ratings too. Life goes on.

And ratings do absolutely nothing.
