I. DID. NOT. MEAN. ALLOW. ALL. SWEARING.
I have said that 3 times now and everyone focuses on it. Using Deadpool since someone brought it up - I have been told in the past not to talk about the movie because it wasn’t family friendly. That’s complete BS. Also what is everyone’s view when Andrew comes on belligerently drunk and swearing? They swarm him thinking it’s hilarious

My view and I'm sure many others view is that Andrew is the owner. It is his server. He pays out of us pocket to run it for us to enjoy. We cannot do anything about it so although it is bad, we have to deal with it. Doesn't mean everyone else should start acting like the owner. I think the saying 'Do as I say and not what I do' comes into mind.
EDIT: When Andrew comes on 'drunk' it is normally very late when most European/American, etc. youngens' have gone to bed.. So it is less impactful in my view. But still, older players might not like it but still have to deal with it. -

It should be the opposite, though. Staff shouldn't be warning for many of these "easy/petty" cases (ie no reason for "imma kill you" or "have you seen the new deadpool" movie be against the rules) and simply tolerating much of them (ie touchy subjects discussion as long as it doesn't go too far or new users posting trade ads faster than every 5 minutes as long as it isn't blatantly spammy) whereas staff should be strict with users who are constantly trolling and being toxic and not being afraid of using the /ban or /tempban commands on such users.
These two policies work hand-in-hand also. Less users will get "bullshit warns" for petty stuff which improves relations between staff and players, reducing trolling, while at the same time trolls/toxic users will all get banned with the expectation set on the server that trolling is by no means tolerated, allowing us to be more lenient (As no trolls will be around to abuse such lenience!).-

There's a time and place where swearing is acceptable and a minecraft server isn't one-

But I do agree, all these almost petty complaints are starting to get out of hand.. as well as what united highlighted with the common trolls also being out of hand.
Maybe some standards/rules need to be tightened or forced equally? -
ok welp in done posting here the point is people just get to butt hurt over dumb things these days its like get the hell over it..

I think common sense should be employed more often.
To bring up Deadpool, I think that people should be able to bring up whatever they want that is inherently inappropriate as long as they don't mention what about it is inappropriate. However, to bring up the common sense argument again, it is also common sense to realize that Deadpool is completely different from something actually very inappropriate like pornography, which shouldn't be able to be mentioned under any circumstances, as that is truly and unequivocally inappropriate for this server.
Also to bring up that idiotic complaint about "imma kill you", it's common sense to realize that it was a joke and not serious, and the fact that moderators aren't even employing basic common sense and rather are sticking to the rules so literally that it was treated as an actual complaint is absurd.
I also think that it is common sense to allow more minor swears as long as they aren't directed or excessive, because there should be some leniency and/or gray area for people that either support swearing or feel some need to swear, such as in a time of extreme emotion. ECC doesn't need to be a dictatorship, nor does it need to be a child's playhouse, and I refuse to believe that it is difficult to differentiate between what is and what isn't inherently inappropriate on this server.-

Things are being worked on by the @Server Admin team, and the project is being led by @ClarinetPhoenix (re-doing tons of staff guidelines, etc).
Things aren't that bad right now I'd assume, but regardless, she is on it. @ClarinetPhoenix please read this suggestion and perhaps take a few points into consideration at your discretion.
PS: I've approved the guidelines draft you have sent me via PM so you are good to work on that! Thank you :) -
I've also marked this suggestion as approved, simply because I've asked @ClarinetPhoenix to take a peak and see if there's anything that stands out so she can adjust things accordingly should she make that decision.
Further suggestions on this topic, please proceed with after 1-3 months. Let's see how things go now.
