If you gave me a month, and pressured me to do it, I could make an amazing lag-free design while still looking amazing. The thing is, I don't have a month. Anyway that's possible?

 

Question:

is there any chance the market could be put in a separate world?

 

That should help with the lag problem, right?

 

Must there be exactly 9, or can there be 10 or 12?

 

What if we already have a front row shop?

I am wondering what about those who own a first row shop at the moment? Will they get a worse, since the winner get a first-row?

PS: I wouldn't enter the competition, but to say it straight I think/afraid it will destroy the worth of current first rows.

 

I'd rather just see the winner get a star tool or something. Having another front row shop would make designs all the more complex, unless they already had 5/6 rows in mind.

 

In addition - could a shop not considered the center of a shop row be considered a "front row" shop in a way if there were to be a warp sign going to it? Just curious, as my design does that.

 

So maybe this is a dumb question, but if lag is such a concern why not just stick with the current market design?

Having a new "Front Row Shop" as a prize is a terrible idea, the above quotes allude to the problems that this "prize" will cause. Also there is a very likely scenario where we will just be creating yet another Front Row Shop that sits unstocked and inactive due to a really rich player who wants to claim prime real estate and could care less about running a shop. I have more I could add but I am planning on making a suggestion soon that addresses the issues with the market. In my opinion this market design competition seems to be getting out of hand with all these changes to rules, whats expected, deadlines, prizes etc. I am sure that many agree with me that it is does not seem like much of a competition with all the changes and it sure seems that things are being made up as we go. I am not trying to offend anyone, just trying to explain my frustration with how the New Market Design process is being handled.

Nope, since the current market has a total of 8 front rows and the new market will have 9 front row shops. The extra shop would just be given to the winner and all current holders of first row shops would remain owners of them.
