-1 This would not. This is because PRETTY MUCH NO ONE WOULD EVER NEED THE AMOUNT OF MATERIALS PEOPLE USUALLY /sell. This means all this would do is decrease the amount of money made mining and prob chase people into farming.

Therefore we are very sensitive to any change in price. That is because we can not adjust to the market. While in real world, miners do shift their focus, we can't. We have our pick axe and that's it. We lack methods and we can't just choose what type of ore pops out of the ground. And our method does not produce enough ore, so that the ore in high demand will no where near cover the losses. So again, your point above is irrelevant, which questions the whole idea. We dig what is given to us.
