Just curious... why the potatoes? I don't see how my post was trolly/stupid in any way. If anything it actually helped the discussion as not everyone would repost Riggs' post, which is basically the plan if this suggestion is implemented anyway.

But you actually warranted them by saying "if you give me a potato I'll ignore you". They were just being rude and wanted to mess with you. I don't see any reason why mine deserved potato.. but anyway, offtopic.

Just been going over the plugin a bit, there does seem to be support for packets, possibly this could include quickmessages and the opt-out could be a perm given to players who apply for it acknowledging that they wish to have visibility to uncensored chat etc. We have some awesomely smart development guys/gals behind ECC. Sure they will come up with a workable solution.

You can block anything under the /ch command. And iirc the pro version does let people opt out. (or opt-in)

He didn't link the pro version. I was responding to implementing that specific plugin. But yeah, that's a viable solution.

We should just go back to the old rule and tell staff that they should be more lenient.

It wouldn't honestly make me slightly upset to see **** the 5 times a week I'll ever swear on the server. There is NO POINT in allowing swearing if you're simply going to bleep it all out anyways. We either allow moderate amounts of swearing or we don't allow it at all. It makes so much more sense to me that way.

I personally would like to have a swear filter like everyone else has said, if there is a opt out feature where you can either turn it on or off.

I don't want to see it in chat, but i don't want to stop others if they want to. (As long as i dont have to see it!)

I, personally, would like to see it off by default. But either way works, I guess.

I'm all for a chat filter, especially if it stops the arguments about it. But I would like the option to opt out of it, if possible.

Voted yes as long as there is a way to turn off the filter for those who don't mind seeing the swear words.

I think this is an excellent solution. I never thought about an opt in/out option which is why I used to be against a filter. Why would anyone be against this if it is opt in/out? This solves both issues. It allows people to swear who wish to do so, while allowing people who don't wish to see it to not see it. I always thought that a strict filter would just lead to people bypassing it. This provides a reason not to.

And just to make it clear, I am not offended by the swearing. But being here three years, I understand there are underage children here that play and some of them are not as exposed to swearing as others. I am thinking of them when making my choices. I swear at home all the time, but at work I never swear. You have to be aware of your surroundings. Just saying "Everyone swears." or "Swearing is everywhere." is not an acceptable answer. There is a reason some kids are not allowed to see certain movies. Parents, well some parents, care what their children are exposed to. Just because you or I are not offended, doesn't mean that someone else feels the same way.

Moot point now, but that has been my view. Glad to see this is being looked into. Looks like both sides win here. And to err on the safe side, (being considerate of others), I think the filter should be defaulted to on and people have to choose to see the swearing if they so desire.

+1 - and thank you for listening to the community to adjust the solution to our needs.

I still hold my first +1, but I have a few things that should be brought up regarding this.

Racial slurs. Some may be fine with seeing your usual everyday swear words but feel differently when it comes to racial slurs. I'm not anti-swearing and all that, but racial slurs do cross that fine line between fun and just plain unnecessary. Are we going to ignore them as long as they're filtered? Or will we simply let those who leave it turned on to see it and tolerate it?

I do have a few other points that I cannot remember currently, I will post those later.

Like Emau said, thank you for listening to the community and adapting to our needs, it is highly appreciated. :)
