I don't really remember where i heard of minecraft...somehow i wondered onto the front page and watched that video on it. Looked so cool, then i see this giant 26 buck price tag, :O Classic was sooooo boring.
So after camping on youtube for a while i googled "minecraft for free" or something like that. Played a completely full demo (minus multiplayer) on some website. I was so scared of minecraft back then. I lived on an island, with snowmen in fences around my house (like a 15x15 island.) I never completed those snowmen...i had a lilpad pathway to the mainland, where i had pathways everywhere and fences and survival houses every 50 blocks with beds ect. Eventually they closed down the site :(
Soon after i got xbox. It was awesome! Weird thing is, I'm scared of mobs on computer, not scared on the xbox :p
Played xbox with my best friend for a while. I was very content with it. Then my little brother wanted the computer. I was "meh" interested and didn't care. He shelled out the 26 bucks and i tried it. It was really really really really really fun! Had tons and tons of awesome stuff better then the xbox! I couldn't believe what i was missing!
So after a lot of play i thought, hey, i want to try multiplayer, I'm sure my parents would like me. So without saying anything i went server fishing. I found a cool looking one that had money and stuff. Joined it, went/skimmed halfway through the 5,000 sign tutorial and stepped out into a big open spawn area. It had tons of portals and stuff. I tried asking what in the world to do next. Got ignored. Not one single person replied. I left.
Then i went on ECC. Looked a bit better. I noticed the tutorial and spent 30 minutes going through it. Halfway through the donations i thought "Hey, i don't have these, I'm not going to get them anytime soon." So i skipped the last 20 donations. I used kit starter and tried using /sell. So i tested selling 1 stick. It worked! /bal 0.05! (i was a smart minecrafter yeah?)
Then i tried using one of the wood portals. IT WAS HORRIBLE! LOOKED LIKE A NUKE WENT THROUGH. TRIED THE REST, GASP GASP GASP!
I used kit starter and was like "useless wood tools, really server?" So i dug stone, dumped the junky wood stuff and was off!
Throughout the next few days i mined underground. I sold 12 stacks of cobble for like 250. I felt great. Started getting hungry, so i bought a porkchop from softlyphychotic for $8.
Then some mayor lured me into his town and showed me a 10x10 (turned out to be 9x9 when i measured it last week). I said i only had 900. Then the mayor figured out i had a stack of redstone. /sell and the plot was mine!
Rest of the story is regular stuff, besides the fact the mayor payed me 4.5k to get resident so i could be his co-mayor. He needed help bad i guess XD

I actually went on the forums and saw this "Get rich in mining" thing. So I strip mined... and made like 25$. I then went to tutorial. I still went to the tutorial when I was a resident. So I went, voted, got some food. Then I got meh first plot...
Buttercity. Blue mod dude (vengful) welcomed me. I bought a 10x10 plot and later turned it into a 10x21 plot. Wheat farmed. Bought bones from username's store, bonemealed, harvested, and repeated. Ta-da, resident!
I got a whole ton of co-mayor jobs by the way from: (these are in order)
CinnamonTiny (forgot town name) co mayor for a day
Chompinville Sold plots and stuff.
Mayorzors
Buttercity The mayor made me co-mayor. I think I became friends with Zeek around this point.
Baconcity FARMZORS
Asabrown's town
Monkeybutt's town (Kingshead)
I did tons of things. Most of my happy memories are from ECC. I'll be buying one of my friends resident soon once they get on. I <3 ecc -

EcoCityCraft is by far the best. When I went online to try out servers, most were just boring. Some were like you spawn with no tutorial and not even a shop then suddenly walk a bit and get killed then be called a noob. Others had it but not much of an economy. When I tried this server out, It looked really cool. It had a detailed tutorial and an organized spawn. I learned about all the different towns and got hooked after buying a plot. Also the server keeps on growing with many active people. Most other servers had 10,000 inactive people and only 100-200 active people. Eco city Craft is the best. By the way, yes, I do like this post so +1 on creative.:)

I've played MC off and on since alpha, usually on my stepsons account. It was pretty fun and I would go through phases where I would play a lot and create new worlds and survive on what is now called "survival mode" it was fun. I have literally never played on a server before ECC. I don't have much interest in PvP and thats what a lot of the server focus on.
But a few months ago, my stepdaughter started playing on this server and I casually was checking it out. I wanted to make sure it was an appropriate server for her to playing on. I basically was just dipping my toes in the water to test it our and make sure it was ok.
My stepdaughter bought me a small 15x15 plot next to hers in lakeside and I started working on building a house/farm. It was fun. I experimented with different crops and did some mining. I remember when i first started it was really hard to find wood. whenever i would go to the mining world all of the trees would be decimated.
After a while I saved enough for Resident. Which was pretty cool and I was proud of myself.
One day someone was asking for help mining an area and so i joined him for a while. He was really nice and offered to sell me one of his enchanted picks. I had never used one before so when i started mining with eff and unb and fort it was totally freakin awesome!
I made enough mining to make mayor.
I think I play on ECC because of the community and the mods. I really love the mods here. I may not agree with them or their actions 100% of the time but I totally appreciate the care and consideration they display is almost all of their interactions and decisions. The people that play on a regular basis are pretty awesome and I wish i could follow chat better while i am mining but I am still have trouble getting used to the chat interface in MC. I am an ex-WoW player and the chat interface there (imo) is a lot better. its a lot smaller and more compact and i can scroll up a lot farther if i miss anything.
