I still dont get why you need to spread vitriol on ecc so badly. Literally only reason to say kys is to put people down

 

I must give this suggestion a -1.

I am not sure where to start, as there are a wide variety of reasons why this should not be added. Why would any user want the option of saying "kys," the abbreviation for kill yourself? Whether it be directed at a user or not, adding this to Eco-City-Craft would add nothing but harm. I have never once heard anyone say, including myself, say they want people to be allowed to say such a vulgar and pejorative remark. It is full of only negativity and whether it is playful or not doesn't change it.

I don't care at all if it allowed on other games or other servers. Eco-City-Craft is a community where we all support each other. Games like CS:GO are played with random people and possibly friends. There is no community and therefore basically no rules. Here on Eco-City-Craft, however, rules are present to preserve the order structure we have all worked so hard to attain.

 

...how do you know it wasn't intended to be directed? It's not uncommon to see builders mess up with chat channels, and if that builder had just been say, killed in SG by someone then said it in global, it's basically being directed. The same applies if it were meant as a response to /pm or local.

I would possibly support reducing the first offense to a short tempban but honestly I don't see why we should allow it.

 

I feel that kys isnt really used as often as it could be based on various situations that it could come from... that being said, whenever it is used, it's used in a serious manner, which is seriously not ok. Reducing it to a tempban i guess is manageable, but in all honestly a ban should remain...

Yeah but here's the thing, you don't have any proof either, and you know as well as I do that what I'm saying isn't unlikely at all. Saying that it's jumping to conclusions is a stretch... at best.

I don't see what's to gain at all by this. It's something that while some think is a joke others don't, and can be taken really negatively. I don't care if you wanna use it in private (assuming of course the recipients don't mind as well), but all allowing it in global does is allow toxic behavior.

 

Of course if you are considering suicide in the first place, whether due to reading kys in global channel on ECC or because your loved one just died prematurely, you should see a therapist. I will repeat myself: regardless of the reason, if you are considering suicide you should see a therapist.
But does this fact imply in the slightest way that it should therefore be okay to say kys to potentially fragile people? Even if you said kys to nobody in particular (but I hardly buy it), you don't know whether there's fragile people listening or not. And if you're dumb enough to say it just for the sake of saying, I don't think your ban would be a great loss to the community.
Big -1 from me. I'm all for allowing swear, but this is not the same thing at all. It's not about language, it's not about being politically correct: this is about throwing rocks in air just because "hey, why not, and if you happen to walk nearby without a helmet on your head, you should have taken a course on job safety policies and learned to wear a helmet, your fault". Dafuq?

 

We cannot tell from the screenshot alone that it was directed at anyone. He could have been killed in Survival Games and was directing it at someone, telling a friend to jump in lava in the game, or just apoplectically spouting random phrases.

I suppose the above scenarios could be possible, and there is again no proof of whether he was directing it at somebody or not. But because the phrase "kys" is intrinsically negative and pejorative, it should be automatically assumed that the user who said it was using it for not-so-good purposes.

 

This needs to be denied in my opinion because I don't see a reason to reduce the sentence for this In Game Crime!

 

Huge -1. I frankly have never seen kys meant as a joke.

 

-1 we have had users like @maddyswims02 who have been affected by this and came out to talk about it. How many other users are being affected by this and not coming out and saying it? Shouldn't be changed at all, in my opinion is should be an auto 7day tempban if you say it.

 

-1 As this is considered death threat and suicide encouragement. Even if it is in the joking matter, ECC treats those as if they are not joking and that it should guarantee the PERMANENT ban to the offender who sought death threats.

 

-1 This shouldn't be changed as it has lead to many things in the past all in which im sure didn't end well for most and as @Kick_Me_1235 said recent events have proven that this shouldn't be changed. We don't need this kind of stuff happening on the server as it makes the staffs jobs harder and yet again cause problems for people in-game and in real life. Changing this would be like allowing other users to swear at each other which is not allowed and causes problems and if this is allowed the server will fall apart in making each other feel bad everyday as though they are not liked and could lead to cyber bullying which im not going to discuss, but this doesn't stand well for younger kids and wouldn't like to see this rule changed. @Nicit6 did have a point above it would negatively affect the server and cause more problems than the server should have to handle, also "as others think its a joke others do not" is also a good view of this suggestion because theirs always going to be someone who either agrees or disagrees with something said toward another user either good or bad. Though its only my opinion and I couldn't let this suggestion pass without responding to it as though it is foolish it is also another opinion of someone else.
