Simply saying "kys" in global should not warrant a ban. Claiming that this encourages Suicide is the most bogus claim I know of. https://www.ecocitycraft.com/forum/threads/user-complaint-pasta000.156592/ On this complaint the user said "kys" in global not even directing it at anyone unless I guess global chat is a person. fix the rule making it a stern warning if you truly thing this is "encouraging suicide". Not a ban. It's not like the guy said go tie a noose and hang yourself. The guy was simply using an online term that although is frowned upon should not warrant a ban. If you are considering suicide due to someone saying "kys" in global NOT EVEN DIRECTED TO ANYONE I highly suggest you see a therapist about being triggered to easily or get off online games.
KYS means "kill your self". Although, as long as it's not commented at someone then it should be allowed. Good day. -Bac
^^^This. Yes, in most cases it's aimed at someone, but not always. If is is aimed at someone, I see why a ban is a reasonable consequence. Saying 'kys' randomly should not be encouraged, and I believe the user should be warned, but not banned.
So the way i'm interpreting this there are 2 parts to this suggestion, 1. saying kys should be allowed if not directed at anyone, and 2. it shouldn't get someone banned. As for the first part, I don't really understand. You wanna be able to say kys in chat.... just for the sake of saying it? I cannot come up with any situation in which this would be needed whatsoever. The statement itself is kill yourself it is directed at someone otherwise the statement itself is just out of place. All I see happening from something like this are people trolling by saying things like kys but then just saying it wasn't directed at anyone, ie: someone dies in sg proceeds to say kys in global claiming its not targeted at anyone when clearly it is. As for the ban, personally I don't think anyone who comes on a server and says KYS in chat has any intention of being a meaningful part of this servers community. The ban may seem harsh but in reality all he has to do is appeal and he's unbanned, it's not difficult to get back on if he does truly want to play on ECC.
I understand how one might think that this is trolling. However, what if you came from the game CSGO or another online game. In all these games other than minecraft people say. "KYS" all the time without consequence. All I am saying is I don't think a ban should be warranted as this terminology just as all other terms are accepted on other games online.
A lot of people say KYS jokingly or as a troll. A big majority of people would take 0 offence to. I feel like if someone uses it in a serious manner or the person it was directed to was offended and made a report then it would warrant a punishment.
No. Even on the largest servers in MC have a heavy punishment for "kys" or encouraging suicide. I don't care why you said it, sarcastically or not, it's not appropriate and shouldn't be tolerated. In my opinion, you should have a ban to rethink your actions if you're gonna tell someone to "kys" over a video game.
I don't see this idea being nearly as good or effective as just not typing "kys". That seems really easy and over all more healthy. I mean like, okay, it is "joking/trolly" but I mean, why is that a necessary thing to say? I personally find it hateful and if you don't realize why it is, I find that to be your problem rather than the other person's. It's just... totally unnecessary. I understand the internet is a hate machine and you have to let some things go, but I think at a certain point further desensitization is not the right answer.
+1 but honestly the real problem is that we've got an army of 12 year olds patrolling chat for things that are technically against the rules just so they can file a report and get someone banned. They find it funny (probably because, well, again they are 12).
Also @goblizz your comment is what I am thinking! -1Million! I mean really !?!? Suicide is a very serious matter! What are you thinking? What is someone thought it was directed at them!?!? I do not even wanna know what would happen! Plus, This suggestion would make me leave the server! Theres already way to much foul language!
+1 Me and some irl buddies joke around with the phrase kys when we do something stupid. We're not actually encouraging suicide...
Like seriously, if you take it as offense then file a complaint it shouldn't have you banned on site.
It's very nature implies that it's directed. 'kill /your/ self'. Just because people say it on csgo doesn't mean that it's appropriate here.
