I would absolutely love the addition of this to the forums. While a lot of people on the server either don't participate in role-playing or don't like it, there is a definite group of people who show interest. If we could get a sub-section under towns (thus making it more organized) then we could get more people involved and it would be less cluttered up.

No offence, this is stupid lol.... -1 in my personal opinion sorry. I don't believe in role play as it just is not real and I am a realistic person. This is kind of like the idea of LARPing which I don't believe in.

Pretty sure larping is dressing up as a creature then pretending to act in the midevil ages. I just think it's a joke and role playing would just be an awkward topic to have forums on.

 

You have quite a distorted and onesided view on role play. Role playing is literally just assuming a fictional identity as your role. It's like acting in a movie, only without cameras and special effects.

And a roleplaying subsection would be for stuff like picon's bombing, by outerlocal and joliver.

Yes please! I've wanted a place for this kind of stuff for awhile now. Being able to act out the wars and other events between nations in one place would be nice.

You are "role-playing" to a degree by playing minecraft. This suggestion just is asking for a section to be set aside for certain "themes" that have been agreed upon.

 

Just because you don't "believe in role playing" doesn't mean you should keep other people who enjoy having fun with it from being able to have an organized sub forum for it. If you don't like it, don't use it. Simple as that.

 

I make money doing nothing and sometimes make builders sing for money for my amusement. There's nothing role playing there lol.

Both of you are misunderstanding what this suggestion is about. There is a -huge- difference between the type of role playing that you are talking about and the type of role-playing we are suggesting: not all roleplaying is 'dressing up in animal costumes'. Furthermore, could you please explain to me how this type of Roleplaying, which is what we are talking about in this suggestion, is degrading?

If anything, this type of roleplaying encourages more interaction between nations on ECC, puts a bigger emphasis on involvement in nations, and furthermore presses people to become better writers.

 

Would also just like to mention, @ OhMrs and Shotgun, that acting in movies, films, TV shows, Broadway, and so on is role-playing.

LARP is live-action role-playing and does not even relate to the type of role-playing this suggestion is talking about. However, LARP is closely tied to movies, films, TV, and especially Broadway. So, if you do not like role-playing (the concept) and/or LARP, you should, in theory, not like any movies, film, or TV (Broadway isn't as common for people to watch).

(I would also like to note that many people role-play every day without realizing it; real life and online. Gotta love psychology.)

This suggestion is about online role-playing, which, last I checked, was one of the most popular types of role-playing AND one of the most popular/populated types of forum [communities]. I am all for it. It adds interest, story, excitement, more for people to do.

Having fun on a GAME pretending around for social interactions betweeen nations, such as that war between you and pbrassat which i think occurred near spawn is SOOOO DEGRADING. In all seriousness, there is nothing wrong with that. If you find a problem with people enjoying themselves and having fun is bad, then continue to -1. In my opinion i think it would be a great sub section to be added and would encourage users to communicate more besides the usual talk in global.

That stuff is kinda stupid, if you wanna do that ask andrew to add a plugin where you can declare war on different towns, that's if you want it that bad, then you can actually grief with out getting in trouble and would be considered legal.
