I would love a rank restart (but from any rank, assuming you fit other requirements needed)... Not only do I want to start as fresh as possible and see what it is like for users of the day to progress, but I lost my town and never got to really experience a "fair" time as a Resident. xP

But there needs to be some things sorted out. Which rank can you restart from? What would we do with old towns that people have owned? Ect.

Also a lot of work for andrew/wewin.

Overall, I rather like it.

Hmm, I wonder if your on to something there. The way to meet qualifications for the revert would mean you'd need a so-and-so rank and a so-and-so balance, so everyone wouldn't apply all at once.

 

This seems pretty cool. I've noticed a lot of players while I've been on have tried to restart by getting a whole new account and then they get banned for dual-accounting.

 

I'm thinking;
Ranks with "Eco" in front of them like $EcoBuilder$, $EcoPresident$ and the EcoLeader would be $$EcoChampion$$
You apply for reset
You lose perms to your town, lwc's are cleared so it's back to 25 for builder, 100 for resident, etc
Prices for ranks get doubled, Resident 30k, mayor 170k, etc
When you get $$EcoMayor$$ and $$EcoPresident$$ you get perms to your towns again (depending on which rank you got them on) and on both of them you can apply for more towns just like when you apply for mayor normally that get to be 250x250 instead of 200x200

Also the $$EcoRank$$ in $$Eco$$ could be coloured depending on rank,

$$EcoResident$$

And so on.

 

-1 I think this would be too much work and there are too many things that would have to be fixed and worked out.

 

Okay so I kind of see both sides:

Pros: Players who feel like they have nothing left to do could start back at the bottom giving them new stuff to do.

Cons: They would have vast assets and thus probably rise through the ranks insanely fast. They would already own towns. They shouldn't be able to get an 85k town with Mayor. That would just be silly and defeat the already put in place town system. In that case, the only reason they would be paying 85k is to get a title they've already earned.

To be completely honest, I feel that players can easily find new things, ideas, adventures, plans to engage themselves in. If you are an ecoleader then aim for #1 on baltop or owning a famous town, or help other players out. The rich in RL don't start back at the bottom, but instead they tend to help out those on the bottom or simply flaunt their wealth. I don't think this idea is necessary or that great of a plan. To top it off, I think there are only 16 ecoleaders (yes I counted) on ECC. So only 16 people would even qualify to do this.

revan has a point their they could just buy a new town from someone and have it a town to explore stuff?

 

Also, I would like to add and feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I have never seen a thread like this about new ranks/new opportunities for ecoleaders/etc created by an EcoLeader. I feel if anyone should be worried about a rank restart or a new rank it should be the people who qualify, yet, none of them seem to have an issue.

In my opinion, this isn't worth the effort it takes to be added to the server. I have never been a fan of resets for ranks, I find it a lazy way to add more "filler" to those that need something to grind.If we are going to cater to those, lets not just recycle our ranks x amount of times and make them harder and harder to get each time they do it.

As for the suggestion with the towns, it would not work. I can think of two different ways to game the system just off the top of my head, plus the fact each town the user owns would have to be tracked down, as they can buy towns unofficially.

In short, I find this a very interesting concept, though the practicality of it isn't really there to justify the effort needed.

 

I wouldn't mind restarting, I like Shane's idea, where you restart in ranks and abilities, but you keep the status symbol of "eco". Its a fun idea, but honestly I see no reason to add more ranks, as rationally there are 16 of us if I read correctly earlier, I don't think anyone wants to count how many presidents/mayors there are. But it hardly seems worth the time to add something for the rich minority. There are much more useful things to put time and effort into, like potato farming, theres never enough potatoes floating around.
