If we can lose nether and aether access for abusing it, why should we not be able to lose mayoral and town privileges for abusing it too?

1 in 10 players have had Mayors abuse them and sell them plots before they got banned for nothing. 10% of all ECC players...that's about 1,000 players that have fallen for bad and misleading Mayors. That means, overall maybe even over $500,000 has been scammed from the accounts of players from these abusive Mayors. The only problem is, nothing's being done to stop this scam. The rules state Mayors can evict players for whatever reason, but some Mayors think this means they can simply SCAM.
Mayorship shouldn't just be about wealth: it should also be about fairness.
Some say, the top Mayors who are fair get more players because they are the most recommended. This is not the case: most players do not search up residents before buying a plot, and there's no official Rate-My-Mayor website.-

I'm just going to read your above post there.
1 in 10 Mayors abuse players buying plots? How are they getting banned for nothing if they didn't do anything. Our moderators don't do that and they simply don't ban for the fun of it. If Mayors are abusive, then it happens. In some ways this server is like the real world, people take advantage of other less fortunate people. Nothing can be done to stop the "scam" because the users that get "scammed" don't even report what happened. If you want something to be done, teach users about your SKIDing topic. They must file a complaint for anything to be done, and if nothing is done.. well they don't just buy another plot from the same person do they? Mayorship isn't about wealth, it is about having your own personal town with whatever rules you please. They spent 85k for their rank, why not be able to use their town and make their rules? What you are proposing is saying Mayors get no rights for their own town, and simply plotowners own the town. Also, the top Mayors are most recommended because they are fair, I don't understand where you are going with that statement. -

That rule has been there since you joined the server.. -_-

For reference. I was unaware of this rule: I had thought that it was non-existent, and thus this rule declares a finite to my suggestions on scamming.
However, my suggestion is not all based on this rule.-

Im assuming you made this based on your own experiences... If any Resident is facing abuse, simply leave the town and find another. There are plenty of towns with wholesome and just mayors. My town is one of them.

Go to the townrules before you buy a house, make a screenshot of the rules. When the townrules are changed during your stay you can use the screenshot as evidence. Agree only to the rules if the offline-time is 15+ days like you said. For example I use a 20 day offline-time or just let them tell me, when they are on a holiday, have an upcomming examen or what so ever. Nobody heard of pen and paper? Make a small sketch of your city, place the names of the villagers on the right plots and the amount of time that they are gone.
Don't go raging at all mayors just look at the rules, don't like the rules? THERE ARE A LOT OF CITIES !!!-

People, especially builders, aren't aware of these kinds of things. They're not aware of any of this until the last moment. There's no "RateMyMayor" website we can refer to, and it can take a long time searching the complaints section.I posted this suggestion based on my own experiences. Money costs, especially to most of the victims of this offence, which generally tend to have little more than $10,000 in their balance at any one time, with maybe $20,000 altogether in their "overall wealth", and many of the victims are forced to rely on a singular town for building space. For this reason, they put all their possessions in one place, maybe worth $5,000 altogether. With the plot and its architecture, which costs say $5,000, that's $10,000 gone. That's actually HALF of their balance gone.If this continues, the balances of the poorest will continue to halve, and halve, and halve: until they get fed up and ragequit from ECC.This unfairness is losing you players.Time to change that fact.

It's like this. Living in a town is like buying a new car. Look around, talk to people, get information about the town, research. And don't forget to read the fine print. With so many towns out there one is bound to suit your needs. My first town that I was in didn't have a time limit, as far as I know (actually I should go back and check). Anyway one of my towns that people are living in, don't have to worry about me demolishing their house. I think of a persons house in my town as a work of art. I like the different types of houses that are made. One is even pink. LOL. My point is that my town follows the same rules as ECC. If you can follow these rules then living in my town is a breeze.
Too bad my town is barely built. Oh and so far I have 5 people living in my ton and the total I made is $500. I gave away 4 of them (one of which a player was helping me with something so I compensated his work with a free plot of land)
SO DON'T GO JUDGING ALL MAYOR/PRESIDENTS FOR SCAMMING!
It's like saying your an attention wh*re, and all residents/builders are like that too.
Not really, but it hurts doughnut...
...this is more of a complaint than a suggestion, anyway. -

I changed my town rules due to an incident with a raging resident...
soo he was offline for 8 days so I lwc removed him, the mods rejected it due to "high value items inside the chests"
so they said wait at LEAST 2 weeks, so I told them i'd wait 2.5 weeks. 1 week later the guy comes back on raging at me and then starts telling all the residents in the town that i'm a noob out to steal all the stuff o_o
now it's 1 month inactivity in my town.
Mayors can do WHATEVER they like in the town as long as it goes with the rules also.... some towns have VERY strict laws so keep an eye out for that. If you hate it so much, buy a town yourself xD solves everything :) -

I'm not judging all the mayors: I'm not speaking to all the mayors, just the abusive ones you want to resell plots for money and try to evict people as quickly as possible.
-
Honestly, I feel this thread is getting such little support because mayors are feeling offended and/or greedy more than anything...
honestly, this is part of the re- erm, nevermind. >.>-
