If a Mayor is being denounced for abusing his rights or his land, again I suggest that the Mayor is given 24 hours to destroy his town before all the grief protection is removed.

    This is completely OTT

After reading this all I can see is the guy had bad luck / crappy experience
My town rules are 10 days and the rules are posted as first thing once you step out of the portal
Yes I agree kicking members is good way to make money but it's what you agree to when you buy the plot
I didn't even own a plot until I was a mayor.. I just built a simple house in the wilds accepted I could get greifed and saved my money
Personally I hate kicking people due to fact that lwc removal and destruction of houses and everything is such a pain when you follow all the sever rules that I don't
And I found from experience that if your offline from the server for more than 2 weeks your inventor and ender chest gets deleted so why should a town plot be any different ?

Unless he has been permanently banned for his actions, I have absolutely no objection.

Okay, let me get this straight. You're telling me that whenever I buy a plot, I agree that I can lose it at any moment for any reason if the Mayor decides he wants to remove me? I may as well be throwing away money and any extra items I have bought and kept in that plot.

In other words, I need to be playing ECC at least once a week for 10 seconds to make sure that my house and plot doesn't get destroyed. What happened to holidays and emergencies? Some people do have accidents where they're seriously hurt and nobody receives notification on this until they come up, so far as three months later. And the last thing you'd want there after all that tragedy and recovery is to find out that you've lost absolutely everything on one of your favourite games. What happened to holidays, too? The minute I go away to Austria or Paris, must my plots be destroyed? Fine, not allowing other server advertisements is one thing. But not allowing long-term holidays is another, and if you view it from that angle you can conclude that, sometimes, the moment you enter ECC, all other types of enjoyment slowly fade away.
Besides, it's stressful to think throughout your vacation, "Is he going to destroy my plot? What about my diamonds? I had lots of items in that house, I hope he doesn't destroy it..."
ECC is supposed to be a source of fun. Not an eliminator of fun.

Absolutely correct. Mayorship is supposed to be a privilege that shows kindness and security, like being awarded Moderator is, not one that shows wealth.

Recently, someone got banned for being disrespectful towards a moderator.

His appeal, which can be found here, shows that he too was scammed of $5,000 because of the Mayor-Resident scamming, and it was because of this that he was banned.

The rules do state "Mayors can evict someone for whatever reason they like". And that's what's causing this scam and protecting it, even though beyond that it talks of the Mayor-Resident scam. But it's confusing, and this is why some Mayors think it's acceptable to remove players from their town just to resell their plots.

I ask you this question: was the $85,000 spent to allow the new Mayor to bully and ruin fun, scamming other players, or was it spent to live happily and welcome new people into the town, so much so that money can be made?

Nobody likes dead towns. I'm not saying plots should never be removed. But I'm saying that a plot removal should be requested for, or, otherwise, more rules placed to make sure that plots are only removed in conditions where it is almost certain that the player has left, and no communication form available to inform him that his plot can be removed.

Having $85,000 should not be able to buy you the license to perform acts involving scamming, stealing and griefing. It should be a license to buy a protected land where you can make money not only by selling plots, but also through many other services. That is how to gain money through mayorship, not by scamming and reselling plots.
