I agree with what Revan said about keeping it in a secure location, and if its stolen there, then you have a reason to complain about it. Its the exact same as chests. If you lock it, then its "safe," samething with a horse. Its your duty to protect it like all of your other precious items.
Be logical about this, how can anyone track that any horse is theirs?
And another point. Unless you bought a horse, you really didnt lose any of your hard work. (And dont tell me typing in your name and symbols is work). You dont lose money, its basically luck. You basically are losing a free prize. Yes, i agree that its wrong to steal, but ill say that unless you protect your stuff, its your fault as well

 

I have a horse and know that the simplest way to ensure that your horse is safe is to keep them locked up and log off with them. Logging off with them will cause them to dissapear until u log back on. Also if u keep your horse locked up, breaking the blocks would count as grief. The only downside is if I broke into a home to steal a horse I would probably be riding it while im banned thus allowing people to still keep your horse -.- Hm I wish you could rollback horses... :D

 

Ooo somebody should make a mod or andrewkm should make a donation featere that would let you tp to your horse if it gets lost!!! That would be so cool!!

It's very different. People almost never rage at grief, even if it's extreme. Anything over 7-8k is rolled back. The only rages I usually see are "MY MELON SWORD NOOO!" and "MY HORSE NOOO!"

The main reason for this is because horses are a ton of money.
If horses were 1k a piece, I doubt many people would care if it got stolen. They'd be angry yes, but it's very easy for them to get another one. When they are 30k and rare, it's not that easy.

While I agree that horse stealing should be illegal, it just cannot happen because it's impossible to prove.

It should be allowed, but discouraged.

If we're talking about ways to make horses safer while you're on, would it be possible for them to be destroyed like a boat or minecart (also entities) and returned to an item/egg state? If a named egg makes an named creature, it would make sense vice versa too. Since the eggs could be better protected, it could ease anxiety of losing your horse.

 

Stealing from a chest and from a horse is different. No one will likely have something worth 30k-50k in an unlocked chest. This is why people want stealing horses to be illegal. Even though it is a game you still take tome to earn that money and some people really care for their horse. I would like horses to be lockable and illegal to steal. It is very cruel when someone steals your horse for profit.

 

I agree, If Ringo ever gets stolen I am quiting this server D: jkjkjkjkjk but I will still be very upset and probably rage quit......

 

Let me bring up another point.

So griefing is allowed in the wild correct, this is because there is first off no way of proving if this building is really yours or not. Which in a horses case it is not possible to say "Oh this is my horse, I spawned him". I am sure that many users frown upon the stealing of horses, however if you have to make your own attempt at keeping your horse safe if you wish to keep it.

I suggest buying a stable from a user who is trusted, for example I know that Nicodemux is selling great and safe stables.

 

Yes, I do agree with that however, if you have boarded your horse at a stable with an owner that is not you, and you have a sign that says its your horse and the sign is locked by the owner, that means the owner is a whiteness. If you horse is stolen from the stable then the owner knows it was your horse and may have evidence. You could also have some sort of evidence, and your friends at the stable may have evidence too. So what I guess im saying is that there could be proof that this horse is indeed yours. I really think you should not be able to steal horses and then sell them for profit. I know that this is a game but think about if this was real life. In real life you SHOULD NOT steal a horse. This is a economy server! In my eyes people who have evidence of someone stealing a horse, it could possibly be someone stealing your friends horse. I think they should be able to post the evidence and the user should get some type of punishment. Also so the person who stole my horse was suppose to be checking my stable, they lied, so if that happened how are you supposed to know? He made my sister pay 30k for him back! That should not be allowed. That same person has stolen many other peoples horses an has made them pay massive amounts, or if they dont have the money he throws them off cliffs and they die. Now that is just plain old rude in my opinion. I appreciate that you guys are trying to make hoses lockable :) and thank you for listening to all of our suggestion ;D that probs takes a lot of time! pbrassat17 yes i did buy a stable from nico because of this issue. I don't care if horse stealing is changed or not but if the server advertises "GREAT ECONOMY" etc etc, then is stealing a horse great economy? Btw I do not think this is the same as stealing from a chest. Keeping a horse protected is A LOT different and NO ONE has a 30k+ item in an unlocked chest. Buying a GOOD stable for a horse is 10k+, most people can't afford this. Do you need a stable for an unlocked chest?......

Also if we had LOCKS for horses we could tell whos horse is whos. Locks on a horse would solve this problem. Honestly when my horse was stolen I wanted to quit. I am not being a "baby" but seriously, I don't get how this server will continue if everyone starts stealing just because they see others doing it also. This server is the best I have ever played on and I don't want this to happen here. Just my oppinion

P.S. If your horse is being stolen, immediately jump on your horse and log off. This causes you AND your horse to dissapear and when you log on a few minutes later hopefully the stealer is gone. Your horse will still be there when u log back on.
