Okay, if this is really implemented in 1.8, then there are a few options...
1. All melon sword owners will have a problem. A BIG one.
2. Somehow a special plugin is found/coded for it to prevent this.
3. We will never update to 1.8...

Just means Melon Axes will be insanely priced, or you wont be able to obtain it?

Why? Practically you only need the eff5 for the high speed and fort3 for the drops. Both are normal axe enchants...removing eff5 would make pumpkin axes imposible aswell...

They will remove eff5 and then you have to buy Pumpkin Axes, melon Swords Melon Axes through the nstar store.
Not that hard to change, -
It is...they'd also have to disable eff4+eff4=eff5 on anvils and thus practically erase the eff5 from the code...and what about the current pumpkin axes? I'd dare to say there are a LOT of pumpkin axes...what would happen to them? Would they be erased, or would they count as "star tool aquired very cheap"?

The most practical thing I myself can think of is dis-allowing ST on axes. Then you could dramatically lower melonslice prices.

I think that if we change something concerning the melons, we could/should change something with pumpkins. Make them need a higher efficiency to mine.

But there are already so many silk eff 5 axes on the server and if they remove the eff 5 people will anvil.

Disable Anvil Enchanting as many probably dont do it anyways (If you can do eff4 and eff4, why cant you do eff5 and eff5?)
Or take away eff5 on xp store and only way to get it is Anvil, which is Extcommands+ which wont be able to be bought with money, so you will need loads of money to buy ext commands+ to even get the ability to create a Axe :p -

Because eff4+eff4=eff5 is planned in the vanilla code. An eff6 does not exist in vanilla and thus eff5+eff5=eff6 doesn't work.

Exactly, if they can disable the ability to stop people enchanting to eff7, then they can to eff5 as well. -

TOmorrow I need to inform myself whether disabling only certain enchants is actually possible with bukkit/spigot.
