Anyone else think it would be interesting to add the walls as a new game type? I think it would add an fun new game that could draw more people in and also make current users happy. :) It should be easy to implement. We could have 4 teams pitted against each other initially and when there is only one team left we could have the same mechanic in hg, and have them teleport to the center. The server is quite powerful and should be more than capable. What do you think?
The walls "is a game where you start off in 1 of 4 sectors with a team, you have 15 minutes to build an awesome fort, once the timer ends, the walls are dropped and its an awesome team based battle."

What do you mean by hg is more than we will ever get? Are you saying this would add to much money in to the economy? Maybe we could eliminate the monetary prize. Honestly I think it would just be fun, I dont need to be paid to have fun. :p This would also draw more people to the server.

 

Depending on how many worlds the server can handle without lagging, we could theoretically have multiple maps with a similar lobby system to hg. This server is very powerful. I would be surprised if it lagged at all when the sand falls.

 

I see your point. Correct me if I am wrong, but it seems to me the most prominent bug is the lobby in hg. This would be the only aspect of the walls that needs to be programmed and would vary from vanilla minecraft. This issue is "fixed" by the timed restarts anyway. I am not a super-mod :p so there may be other bugs I am unaware of. My point is it would essentially be an extension of the mechanics found in hg. It would not create new bugs but simply recreate the bugs in hg. Since we already have timed restarts nothing else would have to be implemented to compensate for the bugs. I know there is also a bug in arena 4 at the moment but this was because someone altered the original map.

I didn't realize how determined you guys are to keep this an "economy server" and nothing else. I thought fun was part a of Minecraft as well ;P. Most of you who disagree seem to disagree simply because if would somehow tarnish the reputation of it being an economy server. This doesn't make sense to me since this would not affect the economy at all. Personally I am not a big farmer because it is quite boring and feels like a job. I mostly play hg on the server and it since the maps have not switched out it is starting to get repetitive. I know there are other people similar to me who would enjoy having a new game. This new game would not effect the rest of you and your reason for disliking it is pretty weak. This being an economy server simply means it has an economy and focuses MOSTLY on that. Having something else to do for other reasons than making money would be entertaining, which is the only reason I play Minecraft. This may seem a bit self-centered :D but I know I am not the only one who thinks this. This would also add a new game for people who don't like sg.
