Accepted [Main City Server Suggestion] Region Flags: Greeting

It sounds neat, but I see alot of coding for a feature that can be replicated with signs at the warp point...unless I am missing something.

No... I don’t think. There was something about a flag that noticed you whenever a person entered a region but this is different- used to notify a person one time when they enter a region.

 

This is the existing worldguard "greeting" flag and the "farewell" flag for a message upon exiting. The problem I potentially see is that worldguard flags that interact with player data are a little weird about updating when you cross a border without a hard reposition (so by walking or flying), so it may not work sometimes. They do for sure work on hard repositions like /warp and /tpa though.

That being said, a hit or miss message is better than none at all, and I can't see any way they would be exploited.

+1 for enabling the greeting AND farewell flags, but I think they should be in TC instead of TC+ as they aren't an "OP" flag like invulnerability.

 

From what I understand worldguard flags that track player movement have quite the performance impact on a large scale...

So that would need to be addresed.

From what I understood from the suggestion, it would only greet the player who is actually entering the town, so nobody else would be effected by this (assuming the greeting does not significantly lag the server, in which case it probably wouldn't be implemented in the first place). So if someone wants to run back and forth across the town border to spam their screen then go for it.

Another possible concern, what if somebody does not want to see a greeting every time they enter a town with the flag enabled? I could understand a town owner wanting people to be welcomed when they visit the town, but as a town resident I would not want to be sent a greeting message every time I go back to my town after mining/farming/getting an erep/visiting market/etc. Would there be a way for a player to block all town greetings, or would the greeting be forced upon them?
