The Use: Deny flag for my town of TitleTown proved to be one of the best ways to protect against LWC theft. Why? Because it eliminates all hope of a random user coming into your town and taking what is not theirs. And, what I do, is make a town rule that prevents users from stealing, and if they do, it can result in a town removal.

Basically, with a 10k investment, a sign in my town hall, and screenshots of my members agreeing to the rules, we haven't had issues since the flag's implementation.

I think we need to stop pretending that lwcs aren't removed for items or that it's wrong to remove them for items.

Look, running a town under normal circumstances is a terrible idea for the people wanting to make money. By the time you buy the town and either tp or a town portal to get people there, you are out at least 150,000. Add in more money and much more time to make the town even a little special and attractive and you have a very costly investment. The reality is most towns will never sell enough plots to make back their investment.

Removing locks is a necessary tool for town owners as plots need to be sold more than once, and the items inside chests should be considered additional compensation for running the town. Which otherwise most users are doing as a charity project basically. It's not wrong to recycle inactive users belongings back into the economy, even if town users get a little help in braking even with their investment.

Though if you disagree with the above, I hope everyone can agree lwc farming is pathetically against the idea of this sever and needs to be punished when possible. This sever is supposed to be about hard work to "win" how is opening the lwc removal page and flying/teleporting to the cords hard work? At least mayors have to fill out the lwc removal request. I lost at absolute least 30k to an lwc farmer once. Why does the person who stole that deserve to make that amount of cash. There was realistically 50k worth of items in those chests. The thief made all that money by typing in a command or two. That completely destroys the point of this sever and is most certainly helping cause our current problems. People can make huge amounts of money with no risk and no work.

If mayors aren't allowed to keep the belongings of lwcs, then the items need to be wiped. It disgust me someone benefited to the tune of 30-50k from my lwc request. They didn't do anything. I at least had to make the request and govern the town. Wipe the chests if mayors can't have them.

 

No one is forcing you to stay on a server that you feel is heartless.

 

We shouldn't put people down for suggesting improvements to the server. Whether anything is done with this or not, we should enjoy the fact people care enough to suggests improvements /voice new ideas/ and bring defaults to light.

Mission, I understand what you are saying here but what if someone else does the lwc instead of an SMod? Or what if new staff is added or promoted during the time you have an lwc filed and they don't have access?
First, it would be wasting their valuable time and most times we are punished to wait three days to file again even if it were a mistake on our part.

 

Smods do LWC's other Staff ranks are not required to do them, nor is it their job to do them.
Also, if new staff are added, then it gets rejected.

Or could do this and run the risk of getting it rejected....or you could risk the stuff being taken :p

Thank you for that clear and concise answer and for the great idea including a diagram that even I can follow - I have made my choice for the future :D Can't wait until you are SMod and have to deal with these yourself!

 

Perhaps it is possible to make it so only staff members and the thread creator can see LWC removals? As for the person getting their locks removed, maybe it is possible that mods and supermods somehow give them permission to the thread as the user has to state who's locks are being removed?

I don't even know if this is possible, just making up things that could fix the problem that (to my knowledge) haven't been stated yet.

 

Super Mods also have access to /thru so the door would only really need to be modified to the person you're filing the LWC for.

 

Also @a18greek18 is not welcome in any of my towns. And he also has a staff app posted...

Shouldn't this fall under the "trolling rule"? This is ridiculous that a former mod could take advantage of the system to steal from another user. I would file another complaint regarding trolling of another user.

To think this user was once a mod... disgraceful... :(

 

To clarify - if you were to make mod - get promoted to say Server Admin and you disagreed with the way scams are handled - you would attempt to prove your point by taking money or resources from the scammer to give to the victim?
You do realize that you could have easily locked the chest and added the person who filed the lwc and sent them a mail... or you could have easily returned the items if it was just a point you were trying to make... just saying.

 

As previously stated many times, I am not good with words, and never have been for that matter. I tried to prove my point by acting upon it and it backfired. There was no harmful intention by me doing this. I wanted to get the attention of administration in this way. In all honesty, it is the community that is disgraceful for snapping at me trying to prove a point. Yes, I agree that I messed up. That doesn't give you all the right to have an everyone vs. a18 war. That is simply brutal and way over the top. I have seen many other users stealing from LWCs and there has never been a thread this disrespectful directed at them. To think... a former mod that I was on staff with would say something like this... no words could describe how disappointed I am in you. And its not just you, I have seen many other former staff and players taking it to this extreme as well.

I have stated my point and apologized for messing up. I don't know what else I can do to get the respect I had back. I have done so much for ECC over my time here and to think that after all this you guys just treat me like dirt... you should all be ashamed of yourselves.

But if you do that, the original person who locked the chest cannot access it, so that is against the rules. With lwc removals, you cannot cover the chests with wood or what not so people can't steal because then you are blocking the original owner from getting their items, making that illegal. Here's something to think about. Look at the name. The name. "LWC Removal." What does that suggest? The lwc gets removed. WHOA! GROUND BREAKING NEWS! The whole purpose of a LWC Removal is to what? Get the lwc removed. The name is that for a reason. Lwc removals are to get the lwc removed and nothing more. That's why what my pal @a18greek18 did is legal. You filed the LWC removal with the intent on solely getting the items in the chest. That's not what it's for. What's it for? (This is where you shout, "REMOVING LOCKS, AKA LWC'S!") so there ya go. Keep complaining, but nothing will go on because the purpose of those apps are to get rid of the locks, not steal the original owners' items.
