Also this will make our great experiences last longer because think about it working for the materials to build a structure, that would be so satisfying.

I like this idea, but I would prefer if it is open 6 hours every day, and rest day it is off or something like that.

just so you know minecraft began as a BUILDING GAME.
@Wallybean with "real" builders I meant the builders who cannot stand regular ways of gathering money/materials like farming and mining and only build things. Also I stayed with this server because it has a good system and economy (something that is VERY rare) the fact that you NEED money for things means you are dependant on others to help you in any way as a builder which also shows recognition that you build great things.
also MASS amounts of materials are often needed by those builder and that can NOT be provided by gathering materials alone. -
NOTE: I have only read the first post. =.= I don't have time to read everyone else's posts; I don't want my opinion swayed or changed by any back-and-forth arguing and debates about anything...
Everything in my spoilers is not what I want to say, I just can't remember what else I wanted to say... It's a broad topic, and my mind died as I spoke about other things. X.x
Edit: Also, there is no "money dump" by rich people paying users to get them materials. Server store is our major, most used, TRUE money dump. We NEED that money out of the system. Our economy and money is inflated. We need it GONE, not within other balances.
I am not saying that I loathe the idea of having no block store. I simply find it a very bad idea at this point in time.
We have an average of 150-300 active, online players. We have so many users because they enjoy being creative, with some mining and farming for their other money. Becoming a mayor and getting a town is being creative.. As much as we might want to be "hardcore economy," that just isn't what we are. Minecraft is a game; people play games to have fun; economy isn't fun; world economy sucks; most people don't understand economy; lots of our players are really young; young people don't know economy.
Making a drastic change like this so far into the server's existence, with our current "standing," will cause many players to leave, and less players to stay after they've joined and looked around. Houses, towns; those are the goals of most players. Houses and towns are not economy, they are created. The other half of players are the survivalists; pvp, wild fighting..
I would only be fine with this if we did this and enforced it MONTHS ago. When we could easily build it to work, without causing mass server drama and complaining. Since we didn't do this then, we can only do it if we completely started over - like we did going to the second map. :/ I would like to see that, but that also isn't a viable option at this point.
If there could be a trial/test run on another map, I would like to see it. That's not an easy choice either, though.. That would mean we'd have to do it on this one. Changing prices, removing a building/things inside, deciding what to keep and what to toss, and forcing everyone to adjust for [likely] a minimum of one week is way, way too much for Andrew to do. He doesn't have time to deal with the drama and adjustment, then possibly have to totally revert EVERYTHING in a few days or a week...
Only way we could even possibly "remove" the block store is if Andrew set a basis of removing about 3-5 different blocks every week or two. See how people adjust to those blocks gone, or just a general adjustment. Let people work their way into "work," find ways to make it actually work for the server. Test to see what being removed causes the most issues, what doesn't. There HAS to be a slow, slow adjustment. Needs to be. Everything would need their own trial run of in or out.
Dirt and Sand: No. We don't want our world looking even more hideous than it already does. Those would need to be in a block store. Some other items you didn't list should be in there, too - mainly all or most Nether items. Others I can't remember, too, simply because they can "run out" or are too "impossible" to obtain. "Impossible" to obtain means that NO ONE will waste their time getting sometimes that doesn't pay them enough later.
Let's say, in theory, this whole thing happened - trial run or not. In a week or two, people will be complaining. They want blocks. They want blocks. They can't get blocks. They don't have 40 hours to get all the wood they need for their building that takes 40 more hours to build (personal example). They don't want to waste 40 hours getting wood to get paid nearly nothing. Would take new users far, far too long to get enough blocks OR money from blocks to survive. When a user can't just jump in the game and play, they get bored, angry, and leave.
There would have to be another starter kit, that gives just enough blocks for a 5x5/10x10 house/safe building, that can be opened every few days. Something, so that they don't leave in frustration. We would also need to become magical fairies and sprinkle saplings over the whole damn 12kx12k world, fix all the pitfalls and huge 1x1 towers.. Without a suitable environment that isn't easily "fixable" or liveable, people won't stay. Mainly the trees would be a problem. Why?
No natural, wild trees means that a new builder cannot start tree farming. Without tree farming, new builders can't sell wood to make money OR make wood to build a home. Without trees - without money - they cannot buy a plot in a town. Without a plot in town, or residence to a town, they cannot have a home, or a farm to use to make more money.
I know user economy would "promote" price increases for items. However, if the block store was removed, Andrew would NEED to increase /sell prices by an amount that would be a suitable base, starting price. If wood stays at about 0.05 each (or whatever it is), there is way too low of a set price for the price to ever increase to a proper amount for the time spent farming materials. People will quickly get bored of farming for hours upon end, either for themselves or to get paid. Farming is not fun. People won't have fun. No fun, people leave.
The server is "hardcore economy" - that is what it started as and was the original goal - I get that. However, even the "hardest of core" economies aren't "hardcore economy." Minecraft is not meant to be economy - at all. It's meant to be survival and creative. Every economy server is really a hybrid of economy, creative, and/or survival. -
Like me i cant stand getting my own stuff or going from shop to shop to shop when i need to buy mass amounts of a item i just go to the server shop and pay a little bit more.

How about we just make it the same way it was before, it used to be open at random times and they were priced at server price. it allowed hoarders to stock their shops and sell them for more money to other players, it was much more economy driven back then.

"[Game-Changing Suggestion] Removal of Server-Block Store"
This is the title of the Suggestion So can I just let people know (mainly andrewkm) That the WOOL store is not included in this. I need wool open 24/7 for my pixel arts lolz... If it gets closed I get screwed >> I use 25k in blocks to create the big pixel arts. -

Rezonl's idea is the best variation of welikike's idea so far and we really should stick with his 100% for rezon's variation of the plan

Problem with Rezonl's suggestion is that it's impossible, lol.
Users have many ways to just sneak in a closed shop. Set homes, jump, jumpto, compasses.
Unless buildings can magically appear with trade signs and magically disappear, I don't think that would work out. -
