Trust issues. In ECC trust it goes (lowest to highest) builders, residents, mayors, presidents, tycoons, moderators (and other subranks), admins, devs, and Owner.

Everyone over or is a mod is liked by the donors.

We non-donors are not loved, even if we are tycoons.

(On a serious note, they can't have greifers and trolls abusing the server at the most venerable time. Bug testing.)

 

I also am strongly disappointed that only donators get to be on right now. That means that when we non-donators get on and want to go to the nether if we have it there will be no more quarts and im sure most of mining world is also cleaned of r-stone.

 

Zac, it has ALWAYS been this way. EVERY SINGLE update has had donators only for 24hrs. In reality, quartz in the nether is as rare as iron in the mainworld. Plus the fact that it's found on every layer. So more likely, less rare then coal.

 

You are both very wrong. First off, you both don't realize that the server is undergoing the update to 1.5. Updating includes serious risks, mainly pertaining to bugs/exploits. It's donators only in order to keep any new users who attempt to exploit the server with 1.5's new bugs away.

Secondly, there's no reason to think that non-donators aren't appreciated. That's not at all the case. It's just that donators are given more rights due to their contributions to the server in order to keep it running.

 

That is not true at all. Not many users have mass amounts of quartz, yet. Plus, the Nether and Mining worlds are huge! Both of these will not run out of ores. If so, (even though it won't happen) Andrew resets the mining world every 2 months. The server will not run out of ores.

This period is only 24 hours, and isn't too long. The server does this on almost all major updates, according to past history. Nothing to worry about. Donate or just wait it out! I hope to see you guys back on the server soon!

 

Thing is...andrew cannot set it so only mayors or presidents only can join. He has 2 settings. Everyone, donators, or no one.
So the easy thing to do is to donator only, which pretty much blocks out all the griefers ect.

 

Its always been this way. Donators are on now just to play normally, and find some bugs that may show up! Its nothing personal!! :D

Yes yes i know. But if andrew can limit the server to the Upper staff (himself, wewin, devs, ect) then why can't he just limit it to President or Mayor +
Most of them aren't griefers, and I'd safely assume most of them know how to file bug reports.

And, seriously snowbleie, some donators don't know how to report bugs either.


I'm perfectly happy with the rules, but I'm going to save my donating until I get ecoleader. It's just, when you make an (mind the star trek) illogical post, i feel the need to reply :p

 

That wasn't a joke. It was a simple troll. Plus, you are correct about it going over my head. It goes over my head because people who complain about donators only annoy me, just saying.

 

The reason to only letting donators in is because they PAID MONEY. If a donated user finds an exploit/bug, the donator could be punished by removing donation features/being banned. As for Non-donators, they have Nothing to lose! They can be banned, but they don't lose anything. Donators know the rules, and that they are at a much higher risk of losing money from what they donated to ECC, and that is why donators are allowed after minecraft updates, to ensure that exploits will not be found.

 

Snowbleie, you made a valid point, but i have to agree with twinsfan, you did make it sound like donators are a lot smarter then non-donators. And yes, in some cases this may be true. You don't see many builder donators, because they usually don't learn how until resident/mayor ect.

I'm sure this was not your intention, and i totally understand what you were trying to say :p

 

They could lose their spot on ECC, their balance, their town, their inventory. But you have a valid point...besides, donators keep the place running, Andrew don't get money on a tree :p
