It doesn't mention that you can't use /near to grief.

It's a donation feature for a reason and it's used for what it's used for, finding out where people are. Just accept the loss on this one.

 

Are you really complaining against the server or are you still just upset that you died at a spawner? I read the complaint and I saw what snd said, it's your own fault for going afk at a spawner that's just a lack of common sense. Besides, there was no intent to kill you, as a matter of fact he tried to save you from being killed. I think it's time for you to put your big boy pants on and realize that it's just a game.

 

The mining world is for everyone to share you have every right to break any blocks that you wish. The section of the rules states that you may not use the water or pyro feature to grief which has nothing to do with the /near command. If you did /near in your town and decided to grief somebody's house while they are there it is grief and you will get banned. If you did /near in the mining world and grieved somebody's house/spawner/etc you will not get banned as griefing IS allowed in the mining world. Hope this cleared things up. Have a nice day :)

Well Now that the ad hominem section is over....
1) using /near to find someone and kill their spawner is not breaking the rules as they are defined currently. It's using a donation feature to zone in on a stationary or semi stationary individual. Totally legal
2) the wild isn't protected so grief not possible.
3) if you don't want to die in the mining world, don't afk and certainly don't afk near something that is a) specifically designed to kill things and b) specifically designed to generate hostile creatures.

It's not pvp because you place yourself in a dangerous situation and someone comes by and removes a failsafe.
That's like strapping yourself to a bomb and walking around a burning house and then getting pissed at someone for moving a burning piece of house towards you

Spawner destroyers aren't placing gravel water lava etc. They are legally accessing non protected areas and legally destroying something.

 

I understand where you are coming from. I just want to steer the conversation back on course with my opinion. You had a question about abusing /near to find spawners and greif them.. It was stated, by staff, that andrewkm has made an exception and allows players to use /near to find players to destroy spawners. While not explicitly stated in the rules, you did the right thing asking about it, and it was explained. Done.

Next, I was not at the spawner, so I do not know what happened. BUT, if someone tried to kill you, then whether or not they used /near to find you, it is against the rules, and therefor you need to bring it to the staff's attention so they can determine what happened and take appropiate action. Done.

Lastly:

I disagree with this. You can, and I do, use /near and keep adjusting my direction without spamming the command. I think to argue this, you need to define "spamming", which I believe more than once every sec or two. I think the server can handle me using the command every few seconds. If I used it 2-3 times a second, I think it would be spamming. I don't.

When there is a rule list, it may not compromise ALL the rules, because, simply.. there isn;t enough rules to cover every siituation. Some things are simply 'one-offs' or require staff tweaking as the situation needs. The Rule List covers the most common FAQ and situations. Not all. Not possible.

Again, I see your point of view, and it is thought out. It just isn't considered accurate with how we define things. Glad you brought it up for clarification instead of raging out, and now that we have that clarification, let's use that knowledge and move on.
