    Patrick, pretend the world edit area to be a giant cube. Everything inside the cube will be instantly wiped. Now, there are 6 vertices on a cube, 2 of them are opposite from each other. Pick 2 of them. Since you want it to be cut down to layer #46, place one post on that layer, and the other on the opposite side, the high point where you would want it to be cut.
