Recently I've heard a lot of arguments in chat about kits and star tools. Please add to the poll and comment below as to why either implementation was smart or foolish!

There's one thing I find that separates each group. Star tools are extremely expensive, and a user has to work months, or even years to obtain one. Plus, there are multiple donation features almost certainly needed to keep the tool safe. However with kits, you donate $12 to the server and you pretty much have SG p'owned. So my vote has to go to kits.

Well seeing that Buffer is $30 and other kits worth having are $15-25 plus having to get the ++ part of the kit to make it op, you end up spending $150-200+ on kits to actually make money off it.

Personally, kits made the survival gamemode less about skill (that and 1.8...) and more about who can land the first hit with buffer. Star tools, such as efficiency 7, are extremely hard to get, and even as they benefit you, they do not make you overpowered like kits.

I've always found the eff 7 debate interesting. There's no doubt that they have an adverse affect on newer players as server prices have to be cut to prevent eff 7 users pumping money into the economy. As a result, newer players find it harder to make money due to the lower prices.
On the other hand, something that I have never seen people raise in this sort of discussion, eff 7s add an element of progression into the game. As this is minecraft, there is only limited re-playability before you end up grinding/repeating the same tasks over and over again. Eff 7s (and star tools generally) give players something to aim for. A lot of people stop ranking up around EcoLeader as they aren't interested in paying 2.5mil for effectively a tag - instead a lot of people buy star tools. I've always thought that without star tools to aim for, people would be sat there with a full set of eff V tools from when they were a Resident and struggle to find something to motivate them to keep making money. Not to mention, they are something a bit different and newer players may be motivated to work towards them as opposed to being put off by the lower server prices.
So whilst eff 7's may have negative impacts on prices/economy, would not having them have a more severe impact on retaining established players? Food for thought.-

Kits are definitely not beneficial for ECC, and I'd say that they're worse than the concept of EFF7 mining pickaxes. We clearly see players complaing about them every day, and this directly contributes to the lack of people playing SG and to some extent, staying on the server. Many people like to say "ECC isn't a PvP server", however SG is a very attractive feature of ECC and can be easily integrated into the economy and should be fair and open to all players, not just the ones who are willing to pay the most for game-changing kits.
As for the debate on EFF7 pickaxes, I've disliked eff7's. They reduce incomes of players who don't own EFF7's by digging their large and numerous tunnels throughout the mining world (Taking them ores in them.) AND reduce their incomes even further by depressing mining prices due to the numerous ores eff7 pickaxes pick up. This especially hurts newer players who's only source of income is mining by depressing mining prices and taking ores.
Now, please note, I'm in no way or form suggesting to remove EFF7 pickaxes - That would be unrealistic and unfeasible. The same goes with kits.-

Eff 7 issues are not an issue. People complain day and night that there are no ores and their not making 30k an hour. There are an abundance of ores even at the end of the month.
Kits on the other hand are a bullet to the head. I have yet to see a economic benefician to them. Sure they've made the server thousands of dollars, and yes that keeps the server running. Even if we didn't have kits I'd imagine we'd have a later player base who would donate more. I believe it would make Ecc come close to canceling it out. A never ending issue that will only get worse.-

Kits aren't beneficial at ALL to ECC. My brother spends hundred's of dollars on servers but he doesn't on here. He quit because of quits and I see users everyday leave because of kits. Kits are just really over powered and it's more of a "pay to win" as some say rather than it being a skilled base test on who can get the best gear in the shortest amount of time, kill other opponents in the same arena, and be the last man standing. Instead it's more of a I paid a bunch of money and I'm making a lot of money from sg because I got buffer. I don't think that ECC should have kits, I think everybody can agree to this.

I have gotten a lot of responses saying that kits are useless to ECC. The server can't just remove them, so what kind of solutions are there?
We've gotten 1/4 no kit games, but I think that hardly did anything.
The hub should come out with alternative mini-games, which could keep some new players on the server.
I honestly have little idea to what ECC could do to stop the kit catastrophe (first world problems am I right?).
The server has dug itself into a pretty big hole!-

I think that they should be paying most of their attention to new mini-games. I've noticed a lot of servers with good mini games and I think that ECC should allow you to be able to do simple things like parkour for example and be able to get money at the end of completing the course. I know that some people love kits and think that it is appropriate for the server, but I think that the server would get more money removing kits. I honestly have no problem with them removing kits as long as they replace the amount of money in features I used on kits and replace it with something else. The kits are something I think should not be on the server, as some may disagree. I know I'm a kit user but I use kits because survival games is one of my main methods of obtaining money. So many people use kits it seems like one of the only ways to help you win survival games is to fend for yourself by purchasing kits but kits just seem too over powered. I don't care if the server were even to nerf kits, they are still too good and I think that it leaves a really negative message on the server as people each day join and leave the server after playing one game of survival games. I really hope that the server can do something about the kits problem.

It's far too late to realsitically take any real action against kits on the main economy server, however we can develop alternatives to SG like I've suggested in my first paragraph.-

As a semi new user, it is fairly easy for me to gain access through in game resources to use a star tool at least by rental compared to how difficult it is to not be mown down like so many blades of grass before me by kitters in sg. There is no access to game leveling without features. You can negotiate for a kit free game but there is no rule against using them anykow. Sg is not even fun

While kits may have destroyed SG for most of the server think about the money that has been spent on them. How much income would Ther server have lost without SG kits?
