Hey guys, the solution to this problem is just pm a staff member! This thread was made by me so we could talk about what staff could do to improve. Not for people to argue. Please try keeping this relevant, if you have questions about server staff I'm sure @Nicit6 could answer that. Or any staff member on here for that matter. Please keep it relevant.
Doesn't mean he isnt Owner, lol. He's obviously the Owner given his control on Server affairs and its literally impossible for a Server to not have an owner. You gotta have someone in control of the console, logs, PayPal and that shit - And andrew's the one who controls that. Just because his tag says only one thing doesn't mean he can't be something else too.
I think the application process needs to be revamped. A staff position is a volunteerered for, full time job (basically). We need a more professional way of selecting members. other than simply posting an application that looks like 20 or so other replicas of it.
I'm talking about the staff rank. I don't think Andrewkm picks the staff members, I'm pretty sure that Phys and Nicit do.
what could staff do to improve Stop being lazy its crazy how long things take and how simple tasks are messed up and missed due to pure laziness.
Treating people as equal humans would be a good start... Get rid of the friend-, enemy-, trouble-maker-, rule-breaker-, special-snowflake-...biases. Someone breaks a lot of rules? Follow those damn warning/punishment guidelines appropriately. They are on a tighter leash - that is it. Someone who has never broken a rule? Follow the guidelines, warn or punish in the same tone, attitude, etc. Heard something bad about someone or personally have a bias? Communicate with Staff and have someone else deal with it in a non-biased, appropriate, fair way. Staff not responding, even to a bright PM, when you can't appropriately handle something or are confused? Give them a kick for AFK - and if they come back pissed, show them screenshot proof of them not responding or helping. Eventually Staff will learn to pick up subtle cues like bright PMs and pay more attention, even when busy. Training the mind is easy if you care enough to learn. On the topic of laziness... TBH, Staff are probably less lazy than they appear. Yeah, they are probably playing the game, and there probably is some laziness, too. But that is super easy to fix... It's called communication. As a Staff member getting online in-game - having no particular forum or high-ranking work to do - all you have to do is ask in Staff chat who is active/not AFK and what they are up to. If everyone says, "farming/mining/building/some other thing," then you discuss who will take a "shift" and spend extra care watching chat, moderating, and helping users. After a while you chat again and switch. It really isn't that hard, so what I don't understand is why that hasn't been done consistently or well enough to actually be noticed or effective...
Too bad there are no proper guidelines. Just some vague ones. Unless things changed a lot since I left, but I doubt it.
Most staff are great, but I have seen countless cases of bias (ranging in every department). Some situations have been handled very unfairly.
Just my opinion, but a few things they could do to improve ecc (for me ) are... Give me op. Give me free Nstars. Give me free Star Tools. Spawn Blocks for me. Do what I ask them to do. Not to take this post seriously.
Also, it is true that Staff aren't TRYING to ignore people. As someone (I think it was ModEdit) said, staff are concentrating more on staff chat then on general (public) chat.
Yeah, I agree with you @ScarabCoder . I mean I know that it seems like staff are ignoring you, but if you really think about it and take into consideration all the people on here, the complaints, the threads they have to watch, etc. There is a lot for them to do. I think it's not really them trying to ignore you, but rather being busy.
Actually answer questions in global. The few times I am on, I'll have a question because I forgot how to do something, how something works etc. I'll ask in global when mods are on. They have time to advertise their shops, and talk to their buddies but apparently not answer a question. I just end up leaving because asking multiple times is useless. Edit: op wanted an solution so here it is: a mods job is to help the users and apply the rules. It's that simple.
Mmmmmm. Also, I've shut down my staff application. I'm going to keep tagging staff every once in a while to show them updated list. @Starleana I've been talking to some users and there are some users that will purposely waste moderator's time for fun. I'm not trying to accuse but I've actually been asked before "Should I staff application just to piss them off so they can lock it?" There are some people at there who do that so I don't think some of it is really staffs fault. I'm putting that quote their to show that not everything is staff's fault. I try not to user complaint unless it's a major deal or it is/does affect other users. Staff are busy and it's not only disrespectful to waste staff's time like that, but it's also affecting the users that need their help. Hopefully the new staff team can fix these problems. Most are them relate to each other and the main ones I've seen so far in my eyes are the speed of reply from staff, and unfair handling in situations. Ok @xboyfernz and @Starleana I've added both of your feedbacks, thanks for taking time to make the post.
I can understand if they're busy, but just because some trolls waste the mods time doesn't mean they can't answer my real question. That's a poor excuse. In the case of people asking stupid questions just to mess with the mods, then the mods should ignore it and move on to people who need help.
