Sorry for the late reply, but I really do not like the haswell chipset, it runs hotter than any chip i have seen before.

People can see so much more than 25fps, it's just that our brain blurs it into a smoother image. So if you were to compare 30fps with like 80fps then you would definitely notice that 80fps is smoother. Although the differences aren't major, it's definitely noticeable.

Is the graphics card the primary driver for performance in Minecraft? These days almost all my PC gaming is Minecraft. I like to use a very high resolution texture pack (R3dCraft), and it would be neat if I could use the 512x512 version and maybe throw some shaders in there also.

Currently the 256x256 works pretty well, but occasionally there can be noticable dips in the framerate when I'm near large complex structures.

A lot of minecraft utilizes the CPU. But for high resolution texture packs and shaders it's going to need a little bit more power.
But, it's not nearly as intensive as many other games. I can still run about 40 FPS with shaders and a 128x texture pack on far render distance. And I have an AMD radeon 6850 Coolstream Edition by Club3D, which was one of the better cards around 4-5 years ago. So any decent card from nowadays should be able to handle it just fine.

780 Is overkill, if you want an upgrade from a 580, go to a 770 or a 760.

    670 is a better 580
    770 is a better 680
780 is a cut down titan

Or even wait for the 780Ti if you wouldn't mind the $700 price tag as it is apparently "Better" than the titan on specs

Just wondering... Why do you only use Intel / NVidia? Don't like AMD? :(

Not true. I personally have an AMD 290X in my machine. Intel/Nvidia get the best bang for the buck as it sits. My lists are comprised from publications. Typically lower end = AMD/AMD. Higher End = Intel/nVidia

Ahh... It just seems that in all of the systems you have posted here, none were AMD, that's all :b
