Okay, thanks General, all straight now in my head Wouldn't want to get warned/kicked for misunderstanding, but it's clear now.
Couldn't you change it to like: 3-5 mins for macro 1-3 minutes for normal postings This would reduce the macro spam however still allow those who just need simple things (such as an e-repair) to post their message.
I had a thought like this, but I didn't post it because...how would you tell if someone had a macro or not? You could just say 'I dun haz macro" so you could post sooner, while you do have a macro. It would be too much work for staff to watch EVERYTHING in trade chat to see if you had a macro or not.
Just find users that you constantly would buy e-reps from throughout the day not hard. I rarely advertise for one in trade because I have people I prefer to go to. And for everyone that is crying 3 min is not long at all.
I don't have anyone I can get e-repairs from all day... And thinking 3 minutes is long or not is an opinion...most people's opinion is just that it's long...
With 300+ people having the ability to post in trade chat at any given time on peak, 3 minutes is enough.
Since this new rule was enforced, the trade channel has been running smoothly and I can actually read other peoples advertisements. It's good seeing different ones rather than the same one every 40 seconds. -AccusolHD
While I know most of you seem to be upset at the three minutes between the advertisements, the trade chat was being overly-spammed, and we had to take action to reduce it. Three minutes is perfectly reasonable to get your message across, and there are still other ways to get what you are selling across. The first way is to get a dedicated customer pool, though this is in favor of older players who have long lasting business deals, and know who they can sell/buy from directly. If you are able to establish one, advertising becomes less important as people will ask/check on their own accord if they agree with your prices, or know the reliability of having a certain item stocked. Secondly, you don't need to be the one that is advertising, a decent amount of users will make it known that they need to buy something in the trade channel. Watch the channel, and pm the user in question and try to make a deal that way. Also, the forums are a good way to get large price items noticed, as many old players, and rich users do read the forums. While each method has its pros and cons, there is also nothing stopping you from using more than one method to get customers, or sell/buy what you are looking for, the difference is it may require more than a macro on a very short loop to achieve it.
Yes there are plenty of reasons to have this. But just this morning, a guy was posting in trade offering investigator. About 20 seconds after his ad went away in chat history that i couldn't view, I had a grief problem. So i waited, and waited, and waited for him to post again, since i had forgotten his username. He didn't post again. So i lost my investigation (he was offering them free, and no, it was not Jbuks). I, Myself, as me in person, like this rule. But 3 minutes is too long. All I'm asking is that we make it 2 minutes, that I'm happy with. If I am horribly wrong and 2 minutes causes giant spam, I would agree to go back to 3 minutes. But as of right now...I'd strongly prefer 2 minutes.
I would like to bump this for users to remember this still is existing, aswell as if you use macromod set it to 180 or higher for timing with messages.
No, even with the current 3 minutes chat fly's by due to trade. It is hard to moderate, or read whatever may be needed to read.
