Applications and requests, Off-topic, Forum Games, Complaints/Ban Appeals, and Pictures sections/subforums should have post count turned off. In the very least, turn off post counting in applications, requests, and forum games subforums. (This is not an attack on anyone, so please don't take it that way.)

Larger forums have more users, and users will usually try to post everywhere, anywhere, and with anything (from single smilies, single words, only quoting, and even necroing old threads) just to get a higher post count and compete with other users. Personally, I find it spammy - It is also one reason I can no longer keep up with the forums. (I'm not saying all posts are spam or spammy, but there are many questionable ones every day.)

I'd like to see post counts as a counting that says, "Hey, this user has made a lot of posts. They are probably helpful, kind, insightful, funny, or make posts worth reading." If users want to "race" to a top post count, I would much prefer to see "real" posts and not "spammy" posts. Could also encourage less necroing (necroing upsets users) and more solid posts people want to read.

I'm kind of doubting anyone will agree with me.. but it is always worth making a suggestion.

 

By saying that, you are trying to start a flame war or something similar... I said I wasn't attacking anyone. I don't do that. If I wanted to attack you, I would have used you as an example for something, but I didn't. Honestly, if I wanted to "attack" anyone, I would have "attacked" myself...since a majority of my post count would go down if Andrew would have done the suggestion. :b
