As you can clearly see from this post, and if you've seen any other posts I have, as well as all of my messages in the shout box, I clearly chat in magenta. Should I ever get on the staff team, would I have to stop with the color?
Should you become Staff, I wouldn't imagine typing in color becoming too big of an issue for general forum work. However, If you were handling Complaints and such, I would recommend you use white to keep it professional.
Is it difficult to manage moderating while being in school/work? How do staff members with other full-time obligations handle it? Also, just something thats been picking my mind, how much does age play a factor in selecting new members?
Each staff member manages that themselves. Many are able to find a way, and others end up resigning because of it. We understand that real life comes first. As for age, there is no official age requirement.
Revan, say i'm a super mod, and I see a player in my town has been inactive for a moth+ can I just remove the locks?
Yes, Supermods don't file LWC removals. Granted, if they don't follow procedures they are likely to get not just demoted but banned.
Thank you for the thread Revan! I'll be working on these kinds of things through the rest of the summer and through September and October due to school starting up and me being a freshman. Need to get a good foothold before I reapply for staff and to be 100% sure that I'm ready and have the time to fulfill the duties of a staff member. Thanks!
I have applied for staff several times in past and this round I have applied as well. Along the way I have learned what it takes to become a staff member, and after 7+ times applying and not becoming staff, my advice is this: Don't give up. If truly your intention is to help others before and after becoming staff, then there would be no problem in becoming a Moderator. But, like OnSceneReporter said, if your sole intention is to become staff to say "I did it", then I suggest not applying as that is not what staff does. Hope this helps
Do you know what, im wondering what would happen if a mod decided to go rouge all of a sudden a cause havok? I think something pretty awesome would happen on that day...
Unlikely. They'd probably be immediately demoted and banned, depending on what time it is. You never know who is lurking around in the shadows.
Do the 3+ hours have to be somewhat consecutive? I am thinking about applying because i feel that i would be good at it, but only being a teenager, it can be kind of hard to be on for consecutive hours like that.(Due to parents, school, and even work) Although i do stay on for that long consecutively on some days, other days it can be difficult. Thanks for your time.
As revanrose6 said, being a staff member is like a full-time, unpaid job. You need to be consistent with your hours, but you can take breaks in the day. You don't have to stay online 3 hours in a row, you can have intervals
Honestly, being consecutive doesn't matter. Somedays I plan from noon-4pm and then 8-12pm. Other days like 1-8pm. We have worked pretty well with the current system in keeping the server staffed.
Sadly I just now saw this the first time, however it looks great Im no longer staff, however when I was, I was dealing with medical treatment, and schooling, it depends on what times you play, will you play in the morning before work a bit, and after, or will you maybe as some of the staff do moderate a bit while at work using programs such as minechat. It depends on the person, and is different with every person aswell. As for the age factor, I had gotten staff at the age of 12, and I am sure there have been some younger than me, it doesnt depend on how old you are, however how mature are you, do others think you can handle the responsibilities of being on the staff team and handling specific situations.
