since the suggestion of making the mining world a pvp seems to fail, how about increasing the spawn rate of hosilte mobs?
not too much, but to somepoint where it gets really dangerous out there in the mining world

I don't agree with adding voting sites. First off, it would inflate netherstars into the nstar market. Second, the reason the old ones were removed was because andrew felt that the sites were bringing in little to no players to the server, making the voting sites pointless.

This would be cool but I don't want to see spawners increase their spawn rate if this would affect spawners as well.

I really don't get why people hate pvp in mining world. It will let prot 4 be a option in this economy because people will have to buy it, and it will make exp prices rise, making this a "Hardcore Economy" we all say we are. Everyone I've spoke to about pvp in mining world said that they loved it and it was fun. That was when we had 400+ players on as I have heard. And if you don't want to be killed, and you just want to run away, find an open spot where no one is looking for you and get fly+ or speed 2 pot and just book it for the hills. It's not that hard.

    +1,
Having PvP in the mining world would add an additional challenge throughout the server. Then again, we are a hardcore economy server. The demand for Prot4 and EXP would be higher, and make the prices rise higher. In addition, it may interest new & old players to staying on the server. Personally, I would like to see 300+ people online again.

Exactly, and if you don't like doing this you can just do /home and escape the fight

Some ways i agree but I honestly dont think it will encourage new players to play or even try and start playing.
Because they will need pro 4 armour and things like that to have any chance against someone who can probably two hit someone when they aren't even looking.

I have spoken to a few people and they said they would simply wouldn't bother playing if PvP was introduced to the mining world as that is the base of most people's way of getting money easily without having to buy perms or flipping items and other markets that are for more developed players.
Farming is a secondary market for people who have a stable income to buy the perms.
Some people like to go and mine and grind there way without having to fight others or interact with others.

I also don't think PvP Mining World will draw any more players in then it would a non PvP mining world, so I dont think its broken. xp would go up thats granted, but to fix this problem i don't think we need to change the whole world to fix that issue.

A Way to fix xp problems
    1. Take xp away from Coal
This will make it so that only Gold Lapis and Diamond? give you xp. This way there will be smaller amount of xp being added into the market. Rising the price of it because it rarer.
    2. Add higher xp for Quartz and add xo for netherbrick.
This will encourage players would want to get larger amounts of xp to venture into the Nether which is good! and then you guys have that element of pvp while retaining the non pvp aspect of the Mining World.

    Or do both :p

I think emeralds, not gold, gives exp. Also I know a reason people wouldnt want to go into nether is lava, but demand for fire res pots would go up. And honestly I think netherstar prices are what's hurting the economy right now

My mistake, the point was though that if coal was aken off xp, the prices would go up because there would be less going about :p

And i know people dont like going into the nether, but if it was worth there while to try to gain much higher xp rewards, then some people might, at there own risk of PvP

NStar prices are a totally different problem :p
I was simply stating a way that we could increase xp prices without having to change a whole world into PvP

Ok. Also, they would still have to go to mining world for exp, unless nether exp was added again. Apart from that though, I agree.

I seem to recall that the Mining World (with a monthly reset) was added to the server to reduce the mining / destruction in the main world (Legacy / Rising). When a new player arrives and asks "how do I make money", telling them to go to the mining world is what we do. If Mining became PvP, they would just go somewhere else to get started. I remember when Mining World was PvP... sometimes 2-6 PvPers would camp on Spawn, just waiting for someone to show up to kill them as soon as they left the spawn protection. This was bad for the people who died, respawned, and now had to run "the gauntlet" to get their stuff back before it disappeared.

I believe PvP should stay in PvP areas, not the "hey newbie, go through this portal to get started" area.

We had build warps before. The area immediately after the protections ended looked exactly like the same area in the Mining World. Mining World was started to reduce the "ugliness" in Legacy / Rising because it resets every month (ish). PvP was removed to give new people a safe place to go to make money that didn't require a down payment.

I don't agree with PVP in mining because I would absolutely despise having melon farming the sole best money maker.
