+1 I believe that banned users should not have to be made fun of even more. I completely agree with this just because even if the user was warned for trolling/making fun of a user, that the post would still remain there in its spot and anyone can see the post. Since the warning stays in the logs for future, use I see no harm under deleting trolly posts. -ori
I do not think there is a "trash bin" like feature (never seen or heard of one for forums). Everything has a timestamp/date, and you can search posts by keywords and forum sections. For example, someone could be warned for "Trolling post on a Complaint Feb. 3 2009." This would be enough information to go to Ban Appeals / Complaints, search the user's name or "Trolling" (you will notice that we post when we warn users, with what reason they were warned for), and have a limited amount of results that can be scrolled through by date, until said date is found. This process alone can take unneeded time (multiple offenses in short periods of time), but it is much, much faster, and can keep us doing things more professionally. If posts were deleted, they would not come up in the search, and going through every single thread and every single post just to find the deleted post that goes with the warning would take a very long time. As well, I - personally - feel as though we should warn users publicly, too. (Refreshes the minds of others, too, just like in-game warnings.) Although I have never been warned, others have stated that you get a PM saying that you have been warned. (Again, I have never been warned on the forum, so I have no idea how true this is or how it works.) However, so many people have full inboxes that they would not receive this message until much later. Publicly warning them (requires post to not be deleted) should also be happening.
I don't support the suggestion. However, moofin, the suggestion would have the public posted warning by the mod stay; the offending post would be removed (I believe).
