As it says in the rules somewhere Swearing is only allowed under the occasion of losing tons of diamonds or something like that if swearing was to become more freely I would reomend getting that plugin but Im pretty sure nothings gonna change that. and no offence but If you really wantedf this to happen put more effort into it . [sorry bout grammer] :p :/

Stop trying to coddle "children". They are on the internet, and by joining the server they must accept that. How does a child seeing someone say "Shit" or "Fuck" stem their mental growth, might i ask? Coddling children does nothing but hurt them. The rule needs no changing. -

Where's the plugin???
Anyway, I do NOT agree with Ike and everyone who quoted him. Children should be taught that swearing is bad, they shouldn't be exposed to it excessively either.
Example: a young child is around someone who swears, the child doesn't know that it's bad, they swear themselves, and it's a disaster from there (trust me, I've seen this happen way to often IRL).
Anyway, I'm not saying a plugin would or could fix the problem. Even the most complex programs to block swearing can be got around. What needs to happen is more people these days need to teach children that swearing is bad, so when they see/hear someone swear, they know it's bad, and don't start doing it themselves. Also, adults (and some teenagers too) need to learn to control their swearing, and not do it excessively.
My point is plain and simple: children need to be taught that swearing is bad, and some people need to control their language.
That's just my opinion on this :) -

The view on "cursing" is, in my opinion, nothing but an antiquated belief. What your saying is that E.C.C should become a child care, where mods must take time out of their already busy days to teach our residents that "Cursing is Bad!!@!$%!@!!!!!!!", When intruth its nothing but a sign of aging. We don't live in the 50s anymore, all of those beliefs died off when the counter-culture arose in the mid 1960s-1970s. The fact of the matter is this is the internet where there are no internet-wide laws, and with the hope and dreams of people like myself, there never will be. Children will encounter cursing no matter where they go, and we shouldn't have to change this outstanding rule which is perfectly fine.
The rule won't change, not now at-least, because that's the view of Andrewkm. This is not a babysitting service, this is a computer game. -

Also, if a parent didn't want their child seeing the curse words. Then they shouldn't allow them on the internet.

No, this will.never.be.allowed. Slip-ups are slip-ups. Swearing and cursing puts a bad name for our server, and we have countless users that are very young. I cannot stress enough to anyone how much just allowing swearing will change the server and the perspective users will have on our server. Like welikeike22 said, "They are on the internet, and by joining the server they must accept that. How does a child seeing someone say "Shit" or "Fuck" stem their mental growth, might i ask? Coddling children does nothing but hurt them. The rule needs no changing." We have allowed many things such as abbreviations such as "wtf" it really is not swearing, but it still allows users to expand their dictionary.
Andrewkm's stand point is currently no, it will probably stay a no. -
