Minecraft Name: goblizz
Suggestion: Have a second stock trader competition with IRL prizes much like the last one.
Reason: Now that the Stock Trader A.) Seems to have died down a bit and B.) The miscellaneous bugs have been patched, a second contest should be created to see who is the wisest/luckiest investor!
Any Other Information: I enjoyed the last competition, but there were multitudes of bugs that needed to be fixed and quite a few rule changes throughout the competition. From my records and tests, it appears those bugs are patched, and why not do a competition throughout the holiday season!
The rules would be similar as the last time, with a few changes.
- $100,000 minimum (as to attract more players)
- Must apply via application, similar to that of a build competition (example at the bottom)
- Dates and deadlines will be set beforehand in a sticky thread.
- Must stay within the rules of the market. If abuse is found, disqualification ensues.
Application Example:
IGN:
goblizz
Do you agree to follow all competition rules?
I agree.
Do you understand that you may be disqualified if you abuse the stock trader, and other consequences may occur?
I understand.
Do you agree to not invest until Start Date?
I understand.
Do you understand that you will be contacted after the competition to collect your prize?
I understand.

UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeWouldn't this be limiting it to the richest players though? Not many players are actively willing to dump 100k on the stock market. Other than that, +1. However, we need to specify how the winner will be calculated and such. :p
-
It was $200k before, and $100k isn't too much more than mayor. Pretty reasonable, at least in my opinion, especially if you are going for a coupon or real world prize :p
I came up with an idea for that.
Upon applying, users have to specify how much they are initially investing (i.e. 120k, 100k, 500k, etc.) The only limit is the 100k minimum. At the end of the competition, portfolio values are taken as a percent gain in relation to the starting amount. For example, if I had 100k, and ended up with 140k in my portfolio, I would have a 40% return.
It's a thought, what I mentioned above, but we could do it the same way as last time and go for biggest % return; the open/close times should prevent absurd amounts from occurring. -

I'd rather a 200k limit. other than that +1

UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeWhy?
-
RaNdOm_CrAfTeR BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️More of a risk. You could invest in twice as many company's if it was 100k rather than 200k. I just like it more
-
100k was taken from the standpoint of it would be more realisitc for many users, and give more people an opportunity to win.
-
UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeYou're just confining it to the rich though - 100k isn't exactly "cheap" either, but more players are willing to shell out 100k for the competition than 200k

RaNdOm_CrAfTeR BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️I understand, i just like the 200k limit more though. I guess it's still a resonable risk at 100k.

Perhaps how we could work this is simple - players who wish to participate can apply and receive credentials to a secondary account (like [username]-STOCKCOMP) and we start it out with 100k or 200k or however much. It wouldn't be possible to transfer this money to the main server so all users regardless of wealth could participate.

UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeAlright so, if I'm understanding correctly, you want this to be more of a stock simulator where the server or whatever set the amount of money the contestants have?

Not a gigantic fan of that idea. i like the idea that you must invest money to get a return.. For example, all of the build competitions are biased, as users must provide their own blocks for the builds. Why not just give all users for the build competitions creative? Wouldn't that make it more fair?

UnitedStates2 BuilderBuilder ⛰️ Ex-President ⚒️⚒️ Gameplay Architect Premium UpgradeThat's somewhat of @Nicit6's idea, if I understand it correctly.
