Only thing I'm worried about is glitchy water/lava and maybe lag. Otherwise, sponges would be amazing.. Even just for decoration. <3

correcct me if im wrong but im pretty surre the water erase thing was taken out of minecraft and they just left sponges for building but even if this is the case im sure theres a plugin to allow it

 

This function is in a plugin we already have.

 

Not to be a party popped but their is a bug with sponges if u remove them underwater the water does not fill back in I made a underwater home in 1.2.3 so idk if this is a bug still but i belive it is. (I have the slimball also :b)

I have about a stack of sponges.

There are some existent on the server, they are just no longer obtainable. This means that if all the sponges were say, thrown into lava, they would be gone until some sort of method to obtain them presents itself again. The last method to obtain them was in the nether when we had Terminator rank give you kits for "grenades", sponges was one of the kits, and when you left clicked with one, it would send a grenade flying that would explode on contact to the ground. Grenades have been removed due to bugs/issues with the plugin used, and these bugs caused grenades not to work well at all... So all that's left is the leftover sponges from the kits that weren't used before the plugin was removed.

As far as I am aware, there is no method to obtain them at the moment. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I support them being obtainable. I don't really see any issues with it, and we could use some of the extra space in the block store.

This is actually an excellent idea. I have never used sponges on minecraft, even in creative mode but being able to suck up some water would be absolutely amazing for those who desire underwater homes or towns. Like my town for example. I'm trying to build an underwater town but can't remove the water unless using a world edit. So I've been holding off on town construction until I could maybe get some sponges to be able to start building. This would be great for those who cannot get a world edit for their town because they are horrible with calculating numbers (great example is me BTW). Not only that but there could be some amazing things that you could build in ECC underwater. Like having tunnels underwater and using sponge to suck the water out from the tunnel itself. Golly maybe we could even have a cute railway system in the ocean of ECC.

 

Yea cross. This is a great idea. Theres a ferw sponges floatin around, but the server store shud sell em to make em more accessible.
