Okay, how about the rule just be for nicknames? Anyone who has paid 50 usd or 5000x that in ecodollars to have the privelege to have a nickname should without exception have read all the rules including the one about what would or would not be considered a spammy nickname, be very well accquaited with what is considered spam on this server and is doing it specifically to stretch the rules for attention.

The idea that andrew babysitting them into having a tolerable nickname as the first and only response is ridiculous, I am positively certain there are better things than cleaning up chat trolls.

Having the rule that you cannot make a spammy nickname and that you couldnt alter your username to a spammy one after joining would eliminate very nearly the whole problem.

I agree that ignoring is the best - I just wish there was a way to ignore someone and it last for a while.

 

Agree fully with this really. It's annoying, sure, but ultimately it's only as big of an issue it's made into. The fact people make into an issue is why it keeps happening.

 

This isn't Nazi Germany I don't see why people can suddenly being to punish people for their names, there is a difference with having a curse word in your name then having a few of the same letter repeatedly but yet this suggestion wants us to treat them the same?

 

But the user must change his username before he gets tempbanned under the discretion of the staff.

I'll copy and paste here an answer I gave to kuke in another thread on the same topic. Here's kuke's comment:

Nope. The problem is spammy names. It's your double standards what is silly. Consider this.
If your username is "jack" and you post "_____lol_____", it is considered spam.
If your username is "_____lol_____" and you post "jack", it is not considered spam.
In both cases the chat is spammed with exactly the same characters (just in a different order), why the f**k would you allow the latter?
If you have a spammy username, everything you post is automatically spam, just because there's your spammy username embedded within the post.
Therefore, users with a spammy username are worse than occasional spammers, because they spam every-single-time they say anything.

spammy messages are not allowed - any message posted by a spammy username is automaticallt spammy - please explain why this is so hard?
