I understand leadership and chances are I understand it better than the server owners and I know that if your actions are good for some and bad for others they are not good actions. A leaders choice should be undisputed and solid also sacrifices should be only made in very extreme situations. Nothing of what I said is present in the current situation. The only things that distinguishes our "leaders" are the nickname color and a few extra commands, nothing more. There are many instances where weaknesses of leadership were displayed here on ECC and I am 100% certain that there will be many more in the future.

 

I suggest that you open your eyes to the real world - such clearly one-sided, positive decisions are not as common as you seem to think they are.

There have been users who have complained about lag/rubber-banding for months and months now. Those numbers that andrew posted which you have bashed tell you all that you need to know if you actually thought about them for a second. World guard, which our WHOLE town system is based upon with near 5,000 towns isn't even comparable to the amount that cookpots were causing. (Craft book @ 16.08% vs Worldguard @ 0.78%)

Think about that for a second. Cookpots were responsible for OVER 20x the amount of lag that our WHOLE town system caused which is fundamental to ECC. When something is 16x more laggy than the 2nd most lag plugin, and 20x the 3rd most, that is extreme. it would have to be something very fundamental to justify that. Now take the situation where players have been calling to sort out the lag for months, are cooking pots so fundamental to justify that obscene amount of lag? I don't think so - When you're talking about numbers that high, it even falls within your definition of sacrificing in extreme situations. Not only that but it isn't a total sacrifice - It has been replaced with an alternative. Admittedly not reaching everyone who could use a cooking pot, but there are already ways around that through user's offering their services with free or minimal costs.

Now I suggest that you stop bashing on the leadership of ECC and claiming that you have a better understanding of it, because if you do you're certainly failing to show it here. Stop being so negative, if you plan on leaving like you have stated numerous times, then leave. I wish you luck wherever you end up.

But if you intend on sticking around, and you appear to care enough about this place to vehemently argue about this change, be positive, actually take a moment to think about why it was done, and stop resorting to attacks on the personalities of the leadership.

I am not saying that every decision should be positive but every decision should be presented in a better way (like you just did) and also provide a better alternative to the ones we have now (buy the feature or ask someone to smelt for a fee).
I am not bashing the leadership, I am just saying that maybe there should be someone else running this server. That is not a bad thing, not everyone can hold a position of power. The owner should choose how will they control the server. Will it be a democracy where players can vote on decisions like this one or will it be totalitarian where staff has all the power in their hands to change the server without the concent of the community. Both of those ways will work fine but currently ECC is somewhere in the middle. Some things are put to the vote others are not and thats why I criticize the leadership. I am not saying that they are bad people, its nothing personal I just don't think they are the right people for the job they have unless they change their ways. I am not one of the people that blindly follow someone without questioning their ability to lead so I am sorry if I seem harsh but I tend not to hide my honesty behind politeness.

Yes now. Economy servers are not as popular as they where before.

 

Too bad I can't give you examples of eco servers with a larger player base here.

 

I think you'll find that the servers you are probably talking about are not 100% economy based. Unlike ECC.
