I have used a server mod on my personal bukkit server called "AutoSort" (http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/autosort/).

A person with permission to use it can create a "network" banking system that consists of a Drop Chest and many destination chests. I use the destination chests as a way to sort/organize all my stuff. When I come back from mining or collecting, I can either autosort from my pack or put all in the drop chest and it's all automatically sorted into the chests I've set up.

It's pretty slick and that is another benefit I would pay to have on this server.
