I don't think an orange name is really worth going through all this trouble. If you don't like the color I'd try to get the rank's color changed to something else (this has heed suggested a few times and never approved though). Also, chat will just get more confusing with a different color. -1
Sarcasm aside, I really can't give too much merit to the idea of it being too confusing, If anything, wouldn't having multiple ranks (president +) being the same colour while some (Builder-mayor) being different raise more confusion? Further, once these new users understand something that, in my opinion is quite simple compared to the other intricacies of the server (How many times have we seen a builder ask what they can do with nstars?) With your argument, why not get rid of /nick as well? or take away rank colours for ranks that aren't staff?
Chat is already atrocious, already colorful, and I think things need to be changed a lot compared to other servers I've been on and seen. However, I doubt this is ever, ever going to be a priority. There have been so many good and well thought suggestions for colors but they've always been ignored for some reason...
Imo we should get rid of /nick - it's horrible for new players and old alike. But that's a suggestion for another time.
Yes please! Nicknames are atrocious. Especially the colourful ones. the problem with chat now is that it's difficult to follow. It's not clean. A chat without custom tags and nicknames. Where people's tags/username don't overflow into the next line of chat, and the colours of chat would be uniform. How great would that be? Anyway, adding even more colour to the mix would do nothing but exacerbate an existing problem.
+1 sorta, the thing I hate most of all is the disastrous parti-color puke chat look which is overwhelming to new players. But I also hate that orange and so does everyone else, can't we let people have a different color, maybe we cold just step away from orange altogether.
Bear in mind, too.... this is a suggestion to sell us the right not to be orange. It's more motivated by trying to find creative ways to raise revenue for the server than by my need for a more pleasant color.
Bold words for someone that hasn't been president for 3 and a half years. I was super excited for orange; I was in love with it for a long time. Now it's just... meh. I want a change, and ranking up doesn't change much.
